The Punjab Kings (PBKS) owner and Bollywood actor Preity Zinta broke her silence on the selection of its player Shashank Singh in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, which took place in Dubai on December 19 last year, saying never stop believing in yourself like him. The purchase of the player by PBKS for Rs 20 lakh made a lot of noise.

The Bollywood actor found a perfect day to talk about the things that were said in the past about her team at the auction. Taking to X, a microblogging site, the PBKS owner said that a lot of people in similar situations would have lost confidence, buckled under pressure or become de-motivated but not Shashank.

PBKS boss Zinta hailed Shashank and said he is not like a lot of people. He is truly special. Not just because of his skill as a player but because of his positive attitude and incredible spirit. Shashank took all the comments, jokes and brickbats so sportingly and never became a victim. He backed himself and showed the team what he is made of, and for that Zinta applauded him.

Further, she also said that he has her admiration and respect. She hoped that he could be an example for all when life takes a different turn and does not play according to the script, for it’s not what people think of you that matters, but what you think of yourself, she emphasised. The Lakshya actor said that never stops believing in yourself like Shashank and I’m sure you will be a “Man of the Match” in the game of life, she wrote in a post on X.

On Thursday, when the situation demanded, Shashank played a match-winning knock and took his team to a memorable win against Gujarat Titans. PBKS had to chase 200 against Gujarat Titans and after the PBKS top-order had faltered, the star Shashank took the match further and top-scored for his team. He reached the fifty-run mark in just 25 balls and stayed unbeaten till the end to see his side through.
