Virat, who has been spending time with his family since 29 June, after winning the T20I World Cup, now his name was entered India’s ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka,  as Rohit Sharma is going to skip the first 3 matches series.

Both Virat and Rohit were part of the squad for 50 legs of the tour, in which Rohit will lead the team, Suryakumar Yadav will be the captain for the T20I series as Rohit retired from T20Is.

Virat and Gautam have had on-field disagreements and even came eye to eye on multiple occasions in the IPL(Indian Premier League), but as the reports,” Virat is believed to have stated that previous issue will not affect their professional relation in the dressing room” he communicated this with BCCI officials.

The Sri Lanka tour was the first assignment of Gautam Gambhir as India’s head coach, as he replaced Rahul Dravid on 27 July, the way  Gautam was appointed as Kolkata Knight Riders mentor helped the franchise with IPL 2024.

Virat and Gautam like to wear the same type of cloth which is a heart on the sleeve while representing the country and don’t shy away from letting their joy or displeasure be known, even in the public eye.

No coach or player likes to lose, but with Gautam, that narrative goes a little further with the added, intense patriotic fervour he brings to the dressing room. On that note again, Gutam is not much different from Virat or vice versa. When those combine for the same cause, which is winning matches and trophies for India

India’s new T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, was given the team’s leadership on Thursday. It looked like Hardik Pandya would get the role, having been the team’s vice-captain under Rohit Sharma for a long time, the rounder’s repeated fitness issues prompted the selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI)  to look for an alternative.

After Suryakumar was named the team’s captain, an old video of him emerged on social media in which he could be seen talking about his mindset as a leader.

A clip of Suryakumar is shared by Star Sports on social media in which he talks about his captaincy mantra. The clip was from 2023 when he was leading the team against Australia, and then a 1-1 draw against South Africa in the shortest format.

“I am really enjoying this new role, enjoying spending time with everybody and we all have played together a lot either in franchise cricket or in state cricket, so it’s not that difficult to understand their strengths and weaknesses” he said. “And of the field we also spend so much time so the rapport we have on the field becomes very good it’s important for me to keep things simple, I am a process-oriented man, I like to keep things simple and that’s what I try and tell everybody that try and keep things really simple, don’t try to be a different version of yourself,” he added.

Shunman Gill who led the team recently in the T20I series against Zimbabwe, will be Suryakumar’s deputy in the forthcoming three matches against Sri Lanka. The allrounder star of India Hardik Pandya was not given any responsibility. Pacer Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and wicketkeeper-batter Rishab Pant were also called into the T20I squad after they were given a rest for India’s tour of Zimbabwe.

Adani, Torrent compete to purchase Gujarat Titans from CVC Capital

The probable sale of the Gujarat Titans, with the lock-in period coming to a close, will therefore be a defining moment in the changing face of IPL investments.

The Adani Group and Torrent Group are currently negotiating a deal with private equity firm CVC Capital Partners to offload a controlling stake in the Indian Premier League franchise Gujarat Titans. According to sources, close to the development, reports say CVC Capital Partners will be looking to sell a majority interest while retaining a minority share in the franchise.

This becomes important because it is aligned with the end of the lock-in period by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which restricts any new teams from selling stakes until February 2025. The three-year-old franchise Gujarat Titans is reportedly worth $1 billion to $1.5 billion. CVC Capital Partners had paid ₹5,625 crore for the franchise in 2021.

A source close to the development pointed out that IPL franchises have attracted many investors’ interest since the league has proved an asset with a good reputation for money-making capabilities and cash flows. This growing interest of investors embodies the financial value and stability that come with the IPL franchises.

Gautam Adani, who owns teams in the Women’s Premier League and UAE-based International League T20, is understood to be one of the serious buyers. In 2023, Adani’s group won the Ahmedabad franchise in the WPL with a bid of Rs1,289 crore, the highest offer. His interests in this potential deal signal his commitment to expanding his footprint in the cricketing world.

Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans, exuded confidence in the financial future of the franchise. He said the team was confident of turning profitable in the next media rights cycle, referring to even the original ten IPL franchises that took four to five years to turn profitable. He added confidently that the Gujarat Titans would not only turn profitable but significantly enhance in brand value.

This surging interest of investors in it is evidence of the growing financial attractiveness of IPL franchises, driven by healthy revenue streams and an increasing global footprint. The probable sale of the Gujarat Titans, with the lock-in period coming to a close, will therefore be a defining moment in the changing face of IPL investments.
