Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu was detained on Saturday by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with corruption in the case of the skill development scandal. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, a former minister and TDP legislator, and his son Ganta Raviteja were detained in connection with the case.
After he was detained he told people and caders that he hadn’t done anything wrong today. Alleging the officials he said, the officials went to his home last night and without even showing any proof, they arrested him. He asked them the basis for his arrest and demanded proof of concept, but the officials showed him nothing. Now they are here with an FIR which doesn’t have any mention of his role in it, or any more details. Chandrababu Naidu said this is very sad and wrong.
Chandrababu Naidu said on X, I have selflessly served Telugu people for the past 45 years. I am willing to give my life to safeguard the interests of the Telugu people. No force on earth can stop me from serving the Telugu people.
In 2021, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed in the case.
In the Andhra Pradesh skill development scam case, which involves more than Rs 371 crore, Chandrababu Naidu has been identified as the case’s top accuser. In order to teach unemployed youths in the state, he is accused of planning the scam while posing as the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC).
Chandrababu Naidu’s lawyer received information on the FIR and other matters, but they also requested prima facie proof because they claimed the former chief minister’s name had been removed from the report.
The police officials responded to the advocates by assuring them that they will receive all information in the remand report within 24 hours. Details said that Chandrababu Naidu would be sent to Nandyal Hospital for a checkup. However, because he refused to travel to the hospital, his medical examination was done at a camp.
The former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh will shortly appear in court.
Pawan Kalyan meets Chandrababu Naidu in jail, announces Jana Sena-TDP alliance for Andhra Pradesh polls
Pawan Kalyan said he has been thinking all this while whether TDP and Janasena must come together ahead of elections.
Pawan Kalyan, the actor-turned-politician, said on Thursday that his Janasena Party will join forces with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly election next year.
Pawan Kalyan was speaking to supporters outside Rajamahendravaram Central Prison, where he had visited with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu is currently incarcerated for his suspected role in a multi-crore skill development company scam.
Pawan Kalyan said, he has been thinking all this while whether TDP and Janasena must come together ahead of elections. He said he is in NDA. It is my prayer that to fight against the atrocities of the YSRCP, NDA, Janasena, and TDP must come together in the upcoming elections, Pawan Kalyan said.
The politician added, that Andhra Pradesh cannot afford the rule of the YSRCP.
Pawan Kalyan said that he has taken the decision today. While announcing the TDP and JSP alliance he said that they came together to end CM Jagan’s alleged misrule. The Jana Sena Party and the TDP will contend together in the elections. This is not about our futures as individuals, but about the future of Andhra Pradesh, said the politician.
Pawan Kalyan, who condemned Naidu’s detention, said, he would not simply depart by criticising the arrest and expressing his position.
The Janasena chief visited Chandrababu Naidu in jail, as did the TDP chief’s son Nara Lokesh, and his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna.
Meanwhile, the TDP and JSP have been showing hints of lighting their previous partnership in recent months. In fact, Pawan Kalyan surprised Naidu in 2018 when he openly criticised the then-TDP governance at a public conference. The TDP, JSP, and BJP terminated their alliance and ran separately in the 2019 state and general elections. It ended disastrously, with Naidu’s party winning only 23 of the 175 Assembly seats and the JSP winning only one. With 151 MPs, the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) swept to power.
