Delhi: Two men slit six-year-old's throat to please deity at under-construction CRPF headquarters in Lodhi Colony, arrested

In a chilling incident, two men chopped off the neck of a six-year-old boy in South Delhi’s Lodhi Colony on Saturday late at night. The incident occurred at the under-construction Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquarters when the accused admitted that they slit the child’s throat to please Bhole Baba on the sixth day of Durga Puja.

Chandan Choudhary, South Delhi’s deputy commissioner of police, said at around 12:40 am they received a call from the security in charge of the under-construction building. She said the local police immediately reached the spot and arrested the accused with the help of site workers and CRPF personnel.

During interrogation, it was found that the child was the son of one of the labourers working at the site. The accused have been identified as 23-year-old Vijay Kumar of Bihar’s Katihar and 21-year-old Aman Kumar of Bihar’s Saharsa. When arrested, one of the accused said that he had a vision that Bhole Baba wanted them to slit the child’s throat.

The official said they used to work at the same construction site as cement cutters and used to smack and consume ganja regularly. The victim’s parents are natives of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly. Because the victim’s parents and the accused used to work at the same site, they were familiar with each other and there was no enmity between them.

Choudhary said the child was going to his shed at around 10:30 pm when the accused called him to their cooking space. The boy knew them, so when he went to the kitchen, they killed the child with the weapon.

The victim’s parents further claimed that both of the accused had been frequently telling the workers stories about how offering live creatures to Bhole Baba and Goddess Durga could cause miracles.

The victim’s father said none of the workers paid any heed to their pointless gossip because they used to constantly be high on ganja and bhang. He said he never once thought that these drug addicts would kill his child one day.

Amid the Gujarat assembly election’s vote count, where the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is leading from almost every seat, an incident has been reported where a Congress candidate named Bharat Solanki from Gandhidham constituency tried to kill himself by tying a noose around the neck at the voting booth.

Solanki also claimed that the saffron party is cheating by doing some nonsense in the EVMs. A video of Solanki also went viral, where he was seen tying his neck with his scarf. Seeing him doing this, his fellow candidates stopped him.

Take a look at the video of Congress candidate Bharat Solanki attempting suicide

While accusing the BJP, the Congress candidate alleged that EVMs were not sealed properly when they were brought to the voting booth. In addition to that, he said some EVMs did not even have authorised signatures from the government. He also expressed his anger over the EVM issue by staging a dharna at the booth.

Amid this, the BJP’s spokesperson from Gujarat Yamal Vyas told the media that the current trend is proof that the saffron party going to make history this time with a huge margin. He said that the massive verdict clearly shows people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in Gujarat. He further stated that the BJP’s agenda of development that the party has carried out in the state worked.

Meanwhile, when the counting of votes started, the BJP gained the early lead, leaving behind Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and others. It was at the second position hours after the Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 began.

BJP’s Gujarat landslide win marred by Himachal Pradesh hiccup

The BJP’s record victory can be ascribed to the heavy-duty campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah which seemed to have struck a chord with the people.

BJP

The BJP’s election-winning magic continued in Gujarat with it looking to win more than 150 seats in the Gujarat Assembly, creating a new record besting its 2002 haul of 127 seats despite the mismanagement in Morbi which led to the death of over 150 people in a bridge collapse.

A BJP victory was expected as exit polls clearly hinted that the BJP would come clear with ease in the 182-member Gujarat House.

Wednesday is the D-Day with the results of the elections to the assemblies of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh being declared today. The Congress, again, slumped to a bad show and looked to net less than 20, Bharat Jodo or not. The Morbi bridge collapse seemed not to have reminded voters to go in for a reality check and despite having such a big administrative fiasco to highlight, the Congress failed in translating the disappointments with the Bhupendra Patel government. So much so that the BJP won all three seats around Morbi as well.

The BJP’s record victory can be ascribed to the heavy-duty campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah which seemed to have struck a chord with the people. The other high-profile campaigner, the Aam Aadmi Party, marked its debut in the Gujarat Assembly with 7 seats. Though a creditable performance, the Punjab buzz could not be replicated in the land of the Mahatma by the Arvind Kejriwal-led party. The Congress has reason to be upset with AAP since it has eaten into its votebank but that maybe a minor factor given the massacre at the ballot box.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress seemed to enjoy a spot of sunshine from the string of electoral defeats plaguing it where anti-incumbency and factionalism had weakened the BJP. Outgoing Chief Minister Jairam Thakur won convincingly from Seraj as did the rest of the party but couldn’t beat the Congress in the state’s continuing custom of swapping parties every 5 years. Like many would remember, Thakur’s feat was similar to the Sachin Tendulkar 100 in a match India lost in the late 1990s. In the 68-member House, the Congress was inching towards 40 seats. The BJP was at 26. Resort games likely soon.

Virender Sehwag trolls Team India, says Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai performance

Team India lost the second ODI match against Bangladesh on Wednesday in a clinching battle. Host won the toss and decided to bat first, despite being down to 6 wickets Bangladesh turned tables around and maintains their undefeatable at home series record since 2016.

In 19 overs, Bangladesh had lost six wickets on the score of 69 runs. The Indian bowlers were in excellent touch with Washington Sundar taking three wickets. Siraj took two and Umran took one wicket. All the bowlers bowled economically, but after that Mehdi and Mahmudullah turned the match around. There was a 148-run partnership between the two for the seventh wicket. The pair first batted slowly to put on a half-century partnership and then scored quickly. They two took Bangladesh’s score from 69 to 217.

And seems like veteran cricketer Virender Sehwag was not at all impressed with Team India batting or bowling. He took to his Twitter account and wrote, “Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar. Need to shake up and wake up.”

Indian batting

India started it’s innings with Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan as Rohit Sharma had injured his thumb while fielding and was out during the first innings. However, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed quick by Bangladesh bowlers at an unplayable ball. But Shreyas Iyer 82 off 102 and Axar Patel’s 56 off 56 brought Team India back into the contest.

Even Rohit Sharma came to bat with the tail enders to save the match despite being hurt. He scored 51 not out off 28 balls but his valiant effort went in-vain as he nearly took his team home while batting with a broken thumb, India lost the second ODI by 5 runs and with this defeat Bangladesh took a winning lead of 2-0 in the three match-ODI series.
