Hyderabad hostel assault: Police arrest 8 students, 4 absconding
The incident took place at the ICFAI Business School in Dhonthanpally village, Hyderabad.

A case of raging and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused in the Hyderabad hostel assault case. The police have taken eight out of 12 students, including a minor, into custody, while the remaining four are absconding. The accused students have been suspended from the college.
A video of a heart-wrenching incident is going viral on social media in which a group of students is seen thrashing a law student and forcing him to raise religious slogans. He is also heard chanting Jai Mata Di and Allahu Akbar slogans as the accused continued beating him. The incident took place at the ICFAI Business School in Dhonthanpally village, Hyderabad.
Hyderabad Police have registered a case against the accused students of IBS Institute for attacking the victim, Himank Bansal. The case was lodged by Shankarpally police station against the accused under Sections 307, 342, 450, 323, 506, R/W 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sec 4(I),(II), and (III) of the Prohibition of Raising Act of 2011.
The police said the victim was threatened and assaulted by a group of students inside the hostel room. They further said the accused punched and kicked in Bansal’s abdominal areas and even touched his private parts.
Following the assault, Himank Bansal reported the incident to the police. Bansal in his complaint said the group of students entered his room, kicked and slapped him, tore his clothes, struck him in the face and stomach, and even forced him to swallow some powder and chemicals. He said the accused sexually assaulted him and also tried to strip him.
Police said the first-semester student was assaulted by friends of a girl he was accused of insulting in an Instagram chat.
In a statement, the business school said it has zero tolerance for such undesirable acts. The institution said it had acted with alacrity and taken a decision to suspend all 12 concerned students involved in the incident.

Telangana CM skips Governor Soundararajan’s Republic Day celebration

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao skipped the Republic Day celebrations hosted by the state’s Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Governor Soundararajan hoisted the tricolor which was followed by the national anthem. She the felicitated composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose who won the Golden Globes Award and have been nominated for the Oscars for their song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the globally acclaimed SS Rajamouli’s RRR.
Keeravani was also honored with the prestigious Padma Shri – India’s fourth highest civilian honor — on Wednesday ahead of the 74th Republic Day.
The majestic Republic Day Parade is set to begin at 10:30 am today, President Droupadi Murmu will unfurl the national flag on Kartavya Path in the national capital today to mark the occasion.
The grand parade, will showcase India’s cultural and linguistic diversity and also display the nation’s growing military prowess.
The parade will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial where he will lead the nation in paying solemn tributes to the fallen soldiers by laying a wreath. Thereafter, PM Modi and other dignitaries will head to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.
As per tradition, the National Anthem will play along with the customary 21-gun salute after the hoisting of the tricolor.
In a first, the 21-gun salute will be given with 105-mm Indian Field Guns replacing the vintage 25 pounder gun, reflecting upon the growing ‘aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in defense. Four Mi-17 1V/V5 helicopters of 105 Helicopter Unit will shower flower petals on the audience present at Kartavya Path.

Video of Telangana BJP president’s son assaulting students goes viral, TRS slams BJP
Bhagirathi Sai had countered the claims of it being a ragging incident and told the media that he had confronted the men in the video after they allegedly misbehaved with his friend’s sister.

Few spine-chilling videos have emerged on the internet from Hyderabad private college where BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son was seen ragging and assaulting students in the video. According to reports, after the video surfaced on the internet, the police promptly took cognizance and registered a case based on the complaint filed by Mahindra University.
The two videos that surfaced on the internet shows the unruly behaviour of Telangana’s BJP president’s son Bandi Bhagirath Sai, as he can be seen assaulting the people in two separate videos.
In the first video, the Bhagirath can be seen brutally assaulting a student as he can be seen confronting a student. The two of them can be seen talking after which things took a vicious turn as Bhagirath unleashes an onslaught of slaps on the man. The man can be seen holding his hand up to stop him from attacking him.
The video also shows Bhagirath’s friends joining in and attacking the student.

In the second video, Bhagirath along with his friends can be seen brutally assaulting a man who can be seen sitting inside a room. The Bhagirath can be seen viciously beating on a man and letting his friends join in.

TRS leader who shared the video had also attacked the BJP and asked if saffron party’s president JP Nadda will take cognizance of the matter.
Bandi Bhagirath Sai’s defense
Bhagirathi Sai had countered the claims of it being a ragging incident and told the media that he had confronted the men in the video after they allegedly misbehaved with his friend’s sister. It was reported that the men had sent obscene messages to his friend’s sister.
The student being beaten has also confessed to the allegations and had said that Bhagirath had slapped him because he had misbehaved with Bhagirath and the girl. The student had also said that the incident had taken place months ago and they had also come to a consensus after which things went back to normal.
Police actions
According to reports, the police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Mahindra University. The case was registered against the son of Telangana’s BJP chief for allegedly assaulting a fellow student. The police are probing the case further, suggests reports.
BJP’s Telangana chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s stand
After the video surfaced of his son assaulting a student, BJP Telangana chief’s office had shared the video of the student who is being assaulted. In the video, the student can be seen confessing why Bhagirath had assaulted him.
BJP’s Telangana Chief had also also alleged that Chief Minister of Telangana for deliberately targeting him in an effort to get political gains. Bandi Sanjay Kumar also said that students fight and reconcile, and also added that the ruling party of Telangana should keep children out of politics. Telangana’s BJP chief also alleged that the university had filed the complaint against his son on the directions of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao as the CM is trying to silence him.

A video of a drunk man trying to hang himself to a hoarding in Telangana’s Siddipet district has gone viral on social media.
The man was saved by the police but has been booked for creating nuisance.

The video was posted on Twitter by an account that goes by name of Maruthi and he captioned the video saying this was the situation in Siddipet and also tagged a local MLA in his tweet.
The man has been charged after a video of him hanging from a hoarding frame in Siddipet, Telangana, went viral on social media on Thursday, according to the police.

In Siddipet, a traffic bottleneck caused by the dramatic incident that was reported on Wednesday caused problems for commuters.
To save the man, a school bus was stopped on the road. The man had tied a rope around his neck and jumped on top of the bus. Since the vehicle was at the right height, the rope could not be tightened around his neck and he was fortunately saved. The person who climbed the hoarding has been identified as Komuraiya of Siddipet Urban Mandal Chingundavelly. Police say he was under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police, the man was intoxicated, and a case has been filed against him for causing a public annoyance.
“He was in a really inebriated state. The incident happened last night. He was totally aberrated at this point. It has nothing to do with any double bedrooms whatsoever. He was sent down with his family after being taken down. We have filed a complaint against him for being a nuisance, “N Swetha, the police commissioner in Siddipet, said.
The accused, identified as Komuraiya, works as a driver to support his family. For some time he had become addicted to alcohol due to family discord. It is said that he did this while intoxicated. The police sent Komuraiya off after counselling him.
