Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday opened up about his decision to alliance with BJP in 2017 ahead of his meeting with senior Congress leaders and the Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

Addressing party leaders at the JDU’s national council meeting in Patna yesterday, Kumar said it was stupid of him to enter an alliance with the BJP in 2017 after parting ways 4 years earlier and stressed that as long as Janata Dal-United (JDU) exists, there will be no compromise with the BJP.

His statement comes days after he walked out of the alliance with BJP and joined forces with Tejashwi Yadav’s Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress to form a new government in Bihar.

Kumar said it was his mistake to re-enter an alliance with the BJP after breaking away in 2013. His party was doing good after leaving the NDA in 2013, but then he made a mistake and went back in 2017.

Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh is still at large following his extremely dramatic escape in Punjab. However, the police’s hunt for Singh continues as the authorities crack down on his close aids or other sympathizers.

Amid this, the Punjab Police on Tuesday captured Singh’s uncle Harjeet Singh and brought him to Central Jail in Assam’s Dibrugarh. Four of Amritpal Singh’s key aides were also brought to the same jail on Sunday.

A probable ISI angle was highlighted by the Punjab Police on Monday when it used the stringent National Security Act against five men connected to extremist preacher Amritpal Singh. His uncle Harjeet Singh and his driver surrendered themselves amid a part of a statewide crackdown against his Waris Punjab De outfit.

Harjit Singh is one of the five people slapped with the NSA, which permits the preventative detention of anyone who could endanger public order or national security. The officials say Harjit Singh helped his nephew Amritpal Singh to take control over the accounts of Waris Punjab De.
