Aamir Khan has been making public appearances at screenings and parties, announced his next film. The film is titled Sitaare Zameen Par. Talking to the media Aamir Khan said he is starring in the movie and is also producing the film himself. He said the team of Sitaare Zameen Par has gone 10 steps ahead with the theme of Taare Zameen Par. Khan said Taare Zameen Par was an emotional film and made the audience cry but the this film will make the audience laugh.

Khan added in Taare Zameen Par helped Darsheel Safari’s character Ishan but in this film nine people with their own set of problems will help Aamir Khan. Aamir shared the project featuring Sunny Deol which is backed by his production house. The film will be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Aamir Khan shared a post about the film on Instagram. Variety of comments started coming on the social media post. One social media person said he had lot of respect for Aamir Khan. Another user was very happy on seeing the announcement and said Aamir Khan should aim for Rs 1000 crore at the box office.

Khan said he has always been fond of Sunny Deol’s films. He added the story of Lahore 1947 is very good and Aamir Khan is producing the project. Aamir Khan was last seen in Lal Singh Chadha which failed to impress the audience at the box office. The actor had a special appearance in Retvathy’s Salaam Venky. The film starred Kajol in the lead role.

Khan is also producing a film titled Champions. Aamir Khan did not clarify if Sitaare Zameen Par is a sequel of Taare Zameen Par. In the 2008 film Aamir Khan played the role of a teacher Ram Shanker Nikumbh and Darsheel Safari’s character was Ishan Nandkishore Awasthi who is suffering from dyslexia.

His clarification came after his name had been circulating in discussions about possible contestants for Bigg Boss 20.

Batwara 1947 has had a disappointing run at the box office, and actor Shabana Azmi has now shared her thoughts on why the film may not have connected with audiences. According to Azmi, one possible reason could be the difficulty some viewers had in accepting Sunny Deol as a Muslim character.

The film, which also features Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, was released on August 14. It has reportedly earned around Rs 53 crore so far, while Awarapan 2, which released on the same day, has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark.

Azmi also suggested that there may have been confusion among some viewers about Sunny Deol’s character in Batwara 1947. She said that even some people who had watched the film believed Deol was playing a Pakistani character, whereas, according to her, he plays an Indian Muslim.
