A devastating scene from the Los Angeles wildfire has gone viral, capturing the heart-wrenching moment of a baby deer desperately fleeing through Altadena as flames consume over 10,000 acres.

The footage, shared by Jacob Wheeler of NBC Los Angeles, has been viewed more than 7 million times on X, drawing significant concern for the animals affected by this disaster.

In his post, Wheeler wrote, “Heartbreaking @NBCLA footage shows a baby deer running through Altadena as a wildfire burns over 10,000 acres.” The 31-second clip depicts the deer racing across a road in a frantic attempt to escape the advancing flames.

One user commented, “May we find compassion for all beings affected by the wildfires, including the deer in this heart-wrenching video. May our collective energy bring calm and peace to the situation.” Another added, “Poor babies. It is always those with the smallest voices that pay the highest price.”

The wildfire has not only uprooted countless residents but has also taken a severe toll on local wildlife, as scenes like this illustrate the broader ecological devastation.

Los Angeles is grappling with devastating wildfires that have left destruction in their wake, forcing thousands to evacuate and stretching firefighting resources to their limits. The infernos, which have destroyed thousands of structures and scorched vast tracts of land, have been described by authorities as some of the worst in California’s history.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna painted a grim picture of the situation, saying, “It looks as though an atomic bomb dropped in these areas,” during a press conference on Thursday.

A new fire broke out Thursday evening in the West Hills neighborhood, consuming over 900 acres in mere hours. Across Southern California, multiple wildfires have claimed at least 10 lives, displaced tens of thousands of residents, and razed entire neighborhoods. In total, the Pacific Palisades fire has burned over 19,000 acres, while the Altadena fire has destroyed 13,000 acres.

Nearly 180,000 residents are currently under evacuation orders. Pacific Palisades and Altadena, home to numerous celebrities like Paris Hilton and Anthony Hopkins, have been among the hardest-hit areas, with multi-million-dollar properties reduced to ash.

“This is absolutely an unprecedented, historic firestorm,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass during a briefing.

Pune entrepreneur asks Blinkit CEO to launch ATM service after Ambulance, sparks debate

It’s worth mentioning that similar services are already available, such as platforms like MakeMyTrip that offer foreign currency delivery.

Days after Blinkit launched its 10-minute ambulance service, a start-up founder and YouTuber reached out to Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa with a request to introduce an “ATM-like” service. The founder suggested that this service would be “incredibly helpful.”

Harsh Punjabi, founder of The Dot Company and a YouTuber, posted on social media platform X: “Hey @albinder, please start an ATM-like service on Blinkit. Users could pay via UPI, and cash could be delivered to their doorstep in under 10 minutes. That would be super helpful!”

His rationale for this suggestion became clear in a follow-up tweet where he expressed, “Leaving for a trip and need cash. I only have Rs 100 at home. I don’t want to go to the ATM, but it looks like I’ll have to.”

Punjabi’s tweet sparked a variety of responses. Some users pointed out that delivery charges would incur an 18 percent GST, while others claimed that the idea would make Indians lazier. Many questioned the need for cash, given the widespread acceptance of UPI.

One user remarked, “The idea is good, but the 18 percent GST on delivery charges would ruin everything,” while another joked, “This scheme should be kept a secret.”

Another user lamented, “Why doesn’t Blinkit breathe on our behalf too? We’ve become that lazy,” and another added humorously, “Please, let’s not make India lazy to this extent.”

A user highlighted that similar arrangements exist where customers go to shops, pay extra for their bills, and take back the additional cash for tasks like paying rickshaw pullers.

“Why do you want cash? Cash should be eliminated. We need maximum digitalization,” one user opined, while another noted that acquiring smaller notes can be tricky, especially when UPI isn’t an option.

It’s worth mentioning that similar services are already available, such as platforms like MakeMyTrip that offer foreign currency delivery.

On January 2, Blinkit announced its ambulance service. Dhindsa stated, “We are taking our first step toward addressing the challenge of providing quick and reliable ambulance services in our cities. The first five ambulances will be operational in Gurugram starting today. As we expand, users will soon have the option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the Blinkit app.”
