British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis

British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis left Twitter users in splits after he mistakenly wrote Sholay as Chole. He recently took to Twitter and asked users to recommend Hindi films in order to improve his language skills.

Ellis then shared the list of recommendations he received on Twitter which includes Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Gangs of Wasseypur and Lagaan. But he misspelt the 1975 blockbuster film Sholay as Chole. This left Internet users going berserk.

He wrote, Thanks for the film suggestions. He said he will watch Chole, Chupke Chupke, adding that he hates violence but will watch Gangs Wasseypur so that he can say something friendly to the cricket opposition. He further said that he has seen Lagaan and that’s why he tells his colleagues every day “Dugna lagaan dena padega.”

People immediately highlighted his mistake and were amazed by his sense of humour.

One of the users wrote, Chole may play havoc with your stomach and palate. Sholay with popcorn would be a better option. Another commented, Sir, you can eat Chole – chupke chupke – while watching GoW.

A third user commented, Love the sense of humour, sir. Enjoy watching them (and more). And about Chole, you can have them with bhaturas at an outlet of Sita Ram Diwan Chand or at Chache Di Hatti in Model town. Sholay, would be better on the TV.

Soon after, Ellis realized his mistake and corrected it in a hilarious way. He posted another tweet and said I meant Sholay not chole (I haven’t had breakfast yet). One user wrote, Chole-Bhature is the breakfast of champions. Please give it a try sometime.

Eliis keeps posting interesting tweets that entertain his followers. He doesn’t miss a chance to enjoy local Indian dishes and a variety of street food delicacies that the country has to offer.

A viral video shared on X has sparked concerns regarding the safety measures employed by OLA Cabs for their passengers. The footage, which has since circulated widely online, features a cab driver from Mumbai watching omelette-making recipe videos while navigating a busy road. The passenger, who recorded the video and posted it on his X account, criticized OLA for the driver’s reckless behavior.

An X user known as Dark Knight shared the video, stating, “Dear Ola, your driver is learning how to cook an omelette while driving, risking our lives. With your scooters already facing issues like catching fire, I hope you implement corrective measures before this situation escalates further.”

In addition to condemning the driver’s actions, he also noted the ongoing problems with OLA’s scooters spontaneously igniting, which have resulted in numerous customer complaints. Dark Knight urged the company to take immediate action regarding this current issue.

Mumbai Police acknowledged the viral video and responded to the user’s post, writing, “Please share the exact location so we can inform @MTPHereToHelp.”

As of now, there have been no reports of legal consequences for the cab driver. Nonetheless, this incident highlights a significant concern about distracted driving in busy areas. The driver’s negligence could potentially lead to a serious accident, jeopardizing both the passengers’ safety and that of other road users.

The video, taken by Khule while seated in the backseat, shows the driver’s phone positioned next to the steering wheel, playing a reel on how to make an omelette. He can be seen swiping up for the next video, which features clips from the TV show Big Boss, all while continuing to drive.

In his criticism of the driver, Khule also called attention to the frequent incidents of OLA scooters catching fire, emphasizing the need for the company to address the growing number of customer complaints.

After the video gained traction, OLA Support responded to Khule, requesting additional details about the cab driver to facilitate an investigation. They stated, “We find this matter deeply concerning, Rohan. Please share the CRN of this ride via DM so we can investigate and assist you as soon as possible.”
