The Hollywood Creative Alliance unveiled their 2024 ASTRA Awards (Astra Film and Creative Arts Awards) nominations today. To the pleasure of fans, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara has received a nomination for Best International Feature.

This year’s list of nominees for Best International Feature includes just one Indian film.

Alongside films like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killer of the Flower Moon, John Wick, Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse, and a number of other box office successes, Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan has been nominated for multiple ASTRA Awards 2024.

In the category of best international feature, 10 films have received nominations. Atlee’s Jawan will face off against some of the greatest films ever made in a variety of nations, such as The Taste of Things (France), The Teacher’s Lounge (Germany), Fallen Leaves (Finland), Perfect Days (Japan), Radical (Mexico), Society of the Snow (Spain), Anatomy of a Fall (France), Concrete Utopia (South Korea), and The Zone of Interest (United Kingdom).

Under the direction of Atlee, Jawan features a cast that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone (in a special appearance), Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, and Sanya Malhotra. Shah Rukh plays a father and a son in the movie who work together to right social injustices. With box office receipts of over Rs 1,148 crore, the movie became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023.

Sandra Huller plays the lead in this 2023 French courtroom drama thriller, which is directed by Justine Triet. The protagonist is a writer who aims to clear her name following her husband’s passing.

A South Korean catastrophe thriller called Concrete Utopia tells the story of an earthquake and its aftermath. Starring Park Seo-joon, Park Bo-young, and Lee Byung-hun, the film is directed by Um Tae-hwa.

The main actors in this comedy-drama, a joint Finnish-German production, are Jussi Vatanen and Alma Poysti. The protagonist is a lone woman named Anna who encounters a solitary, alcoholic employee. Amidst all the obstacles, they attempt to establish a bond.

Originally established as the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society in 20i6, Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA) is a film critics association in Los Angeles. It changed its name to Hollywood Critics Association in 2019. The organisation renamed their honours as The Astra honours and changed its name for the second time, in 2023.

The eagerly anticipated Fighter teaser has been dropped today, giving an appealing look at this impending blockbuster movie. With Deepika Padukone captivating audiences with her elegant fighter jet piloting, the teaser takes off, introducing Hrithik Roshan’s character Patty.

With a strong caption that says, to defeat us? You have to be kidding, the teaser begins, setting the tone for an exciting story. Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and the always charming Anil Kapoor come together with the same goal in mind: to set out on a risky expedition to protect the dignity of their native India against powerful adversaries.

Fans filled the comment box with their excitement as soon as the Fighter preview was shown. Deepika back to rule Bollywood, a user wrote. Ayushmann Khurrana, Neha Dhupia, Manish Malhotra, and Rakesh Roshan were among the celebrities that enjoyed the sneak peek.

New character-introducing posters featuring Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Hrithik Roshan were released a few days back which was appreciated by the auidance. Hrithik Roshan portrays Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania in the movie.

The makers of the film have earlier revealed Deepika Padukone’s initial appearance as Minal Rathore. Deepika captioned the photo, Squadron Leader Minal Rathore, Call Sign: Minni, Designation: Squadron Pilot, Unit: Air Dragons.

Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, Call Sign: Rocky, Designation: Commanding Officer, Unit: Air Dragons, Fighter Forever, wrote Anil Kapoor in the caption.

Siddharth Anand is the director of the upcoming action movie Fighter, which Viacom 18 Studios and Marflix Pictures are producing. In addition to Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor also feature in the movie. The film is scheduled to open in theatres on January 25, 2024.

Vetran actor Junior Mehmood has passed away today at the age of 67. The seasoned actor was suffering from stage four stomach cancer. His friend Salam Kazi has confirmed the news of his passing, according to a report.

Junior Mehmood, whose birth name was Naeem Sayyed, reportedly passed away at home at 2:15 a.m. The son of Junior Mehmood, Husnain, said, they only found out about his fourth-stage stomach cancer 18 days ago.

He was brought to Tata Memorial Hospital by his family. At this point, the dean there informed Junior Mehmood’s family that chemotherapy and treatment would be extremely unpleasant. It was recommended by the hospital that we care for him at home.

According to reports, at around 12 pm, Junior Mehmood’s funeral service will be held in Santacruz West’s Juhu Muslim Cemetery, which is also where his mother is cremated.

Before he passed away, a number of movie stars, including Jeetendra and Johnny Lever, paid the ailing actor visits. Jeetendra went to Junior Mehmood’s house on Tuesday because the veteran actor had expressed a desire to meet him.

Jeetendra broke down when he saw his friend and co-star in agony. The actor told about his visit and said he was there by his bedside, but Junior Mehmood did not recognise him. He can’t even open his eyes from the anguish he’s in. Jeetendra said it pained him to see his friend in this way. He has been visiting Mount Mary Church for 25 years. He had intended to stop by Junior on way to church the next Sunday when he heard about his health issues. However, Johnny contacted him on Monday night and urged him to visit him as soon as possible, he said.

Sachin Pilgaonkar visited Junior Mehmood as well. Later, he begged his Instagram followers to pray for the well-being of his childhood friend in a post.

As a young actor, Junior Mehmood made his film debut in 1966’s Mohabbat Zindagi Hai. Later, he starred in films like Brahmachari, Kati Patang, Haathi Mere Saathi, Caravan, and Naunihal.

Mehmood gave him the screen name Junior Mehmood when they co-starred in the 1968 film Suhaag Raat. The actor had a short career on television with episodes like Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara and Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka.
