8 people die in Hyderabad hotel fire, probe ordered

The officials, while talking to the media, informed that the majority of the victims who died in the unfortunate incident suffered from asphyxiation caused by the smoke.

A fire broke out in Telangana’s Secunderabad District on Monday night, which led to 8 people’s deaths. A fire broke out at an electric scooter showroom which later spread to a hotel located right above it.

According to reports, the first break out of the fire was on the ground floor of the building, where the scooter showroom was, and then later caught on to the whole building, spreading upward to the Ruby Hotel which was on the first and second floor. About 25 guests were staying at the hotel claimed officials. 

The officials, while talking to the media, informed that the majority of the victims who died in the unfortunate incident suffered from asphyxiation caused by the smoke.

Officials stated that the fire department succeeded in rescuing some people with the use of crane ladders while the locals from the area also chimed in to help with the situation. There are several videos surfacing that showed the strangled people in the fire trying to flee the fire by jumping out of the hotel windows.

CV Anand, Hyderabad Police Commissioner, informed the media that the injured have been rushed to the hospital and are going under treatment for the same, he also added that fire engines are at the location trying to tackle the situation and put out the fire.

Mohammad Mehmood Ali, Telangana Home Minister, has ordered a probe to look into the matter and find the cause of the fire. The home minister also told the media that the fire department did everything in its power and succeeded in getting many people out as well, but due to heavy smoke, some didn’t make it.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has come forward to show his grief and has also announced a monetary compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each for the family members of the people who died in the mishap, and Rs. 50,000 each for the injured. 

The Prime Minister, in his tweet, also wished for a fast recovery of the patients who are in the hospital.

Hyderabad University suspends professor accused of molesting foreign student, detained by Cyberabad Police

A case of alleged molestation of an international student (of foreign origin) by a Hindi professor has come to light in the University of Hyderabad main campus. Hundred of Students have sat on protested in the University of Hyderabad campus on Saturday.

Cyberabad police have taken the professor into custody after the complaint was filed in the University and the outrage reached the internet. After the professor was detained, the Hyderabad University has condemned the incident and suspended the accused professor.

Earlier, Shilpavalli of Hyderabad Police’s DCP Madhapur told that the Cyberabad Police of Telangana has taken a professor of Hyderabad University into custody on charges of molesting a foreign student. The student is a resident of Thailand and is doing her graduation from the University of Hyderabad. The matter is being thoroughly investigated by the Telangana Police.

Accused professor has been suspended with immediate effect

The University of Hyderabad has also issued an official statement regarding the entire episode. The university administration said that the institution condemns the incident that took place on December 2 between Professor Ravi Ranjan, Department of Hindi, and the foreign student. Based on the criminal complaint and FIR, the accused professor has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.

There was anger among the students since this incident. On Saturday, a large number of students raised slogans and also protested in the university campus. Several pictures from the protest has reached the internet. And tweeple have not only expressed their grief towards the foreign student but have also condemned the professor for turning into a nightmare.

Several users tweeted in anger and wrote that in a society where teachers, who are said to be our morale guide and mentors will only turn into a horror, where will this society moving towards. Another user wrote that in times like these we realize why it is so important to have a better way to appoint teachers and have a regular check on them.

Telangana’s Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter state legislator K Kavitha has been named by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy. Kavitha’s name was called out in a court filing while seeking the remand of Gurugram businessman Amit Arora.

The central agency claimed Kavitha was a key member of the South Group who paid at least Rs 100 crore to Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders via another arrested businessman, Vijay Nair.

Citing statements of Amit Arora, the ED said as per the investigation carried out so far, Vijay Nair, on behalf of leaders of AAP has at least received kickbacks to the tune of Rs 100 crore from a group; called South Group (controlled by Sh Sarath Reddy, Ms. K Kavitha, Sh Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy) by various persons including Amit Arora.

The ED made these claims while seeking the remand of Amit Arora, the director of the liquor company Buddy Retail Pvt Limited. He was later sent to the ED’s custody till December 7 by the court. However, there is no official statement by K Kavitha or her party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

This is not the first time Kavitha’s name has come under investigation. Earlier in August, former MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa and BJP MP Parvesh Varma made allegations linking her to the scam.

Kavitha filed a defamation lawsuit, and the City Civil Court in Hyderabad issued an interim order ordering the BJP leaders not to make any defamatory remarks against her. Kavitha had termed the allegations completely baseless.

The Hyderabad police have nabbed five school students for gang-raping her 17-year-old classmate and for blackmailing her of sharing the video clip on WhatsApp.

The police reports claimed that five of the girl’s classmates gang raped her and shot a video of the incident. They used the video of the incident to blackmail the victim and in Hyderabad’s Hayathnagar police station.

The alleged perpetrator recorded the sexual assault and threatened the victim that they would release the video on social media if she told anybody about it. Ten days later, they blackmailed the girl into consenting to another sexual attack.

Although the gang-rape took place in August, it was only just made public after the victim’s parents reported the police. The parents reportedly complained to the authorities after learning that the accused had shared the footage on social media.

Five students, all of whom are minors, have been charged by the police with under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. They were sent to the juvenile facility.

Earlier, five ,men allegedly raped a young girl earlier in Trichy, threatened her with the footage for more than a year, and then recently shared the video of the crime on WhatsApp. Trichy police detained three guys when the problem was discovered, and they are currently looking for two other males who have fled.

The media reports claim that a year ago, the girl was raped by her relative and four other people. The men allegedly threatened the girl and assaulted her again with the video of the incident they had shot. The matter was discovered after the little girl just married her relative.

The girl was saved by the CWC and police, who sent her to a government residence after receiving a tip. However, she was placed in the house afterwards. On WhatsApp, a video of the rape appeared. Her father learned about the viral video and promptly filed a complaint with CWC, Trichy.
