Bringing vintage elegance to the red carpet, Janhvi Kapoor turned heads at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, donning an exquisite 1957 Christian Dior haute couture dress. Her appearance not only reinforced her growing status as a fashion icon but also paid tribute to the legacy of old-school Hollywood glam.

Janhvi is attending Cannes for the premiere of her film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar. The film, also starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, received an enthusiastic nine-minute standing ovation after its screening in the Un Certain Regard section.

A masterclass in vintage styling

Styled by her cousin Rhea Kapoor, Janhvi’s look was unveiled in a monochrome portrait that captivated social media. The black slub silk bodycon dress with a curved neckline embraced her silhouette with flawless precision.

The outfit was elevated with a 10-carat diamond brooch by Raniek Jewels, while pear-shaped earrings from Birhichand Ghanshyamdas added a classic sparkle. Completing her retro aesthetic, Janhvi paired the look with black velvet gloves—a nod to the sophistication of mid-20th-century Hollywood icons.

Her slick bun hairstyle ensured that all eyes remained on her structured gown and sharp expression, giving the entire ensemble a clean, refined finish.

A blend of heritage and modernity

Wearing a piece from Dior’s golden era, Janhvi seamlessly blended fashion history with the modern glamour expected at Cannes. The black-and-white imagery of her look captured a sense of timeless beauty, radiating poise and confidence. Her look has since gone viral among fans and fashion enthusiasts, many applauding the tasteful homage to vintage couture.

As Janhvi continues to represent Indian cinema on the global stage, her fashion statements at Cannes reflect a thoughtful mix of cinematic elegance and sartorial strength, both in performance and presentation.
