The holy day of Makar Sankranti is just on our doorstep, but since the number of Covid-19 cases are increasing by the day, the Haridwar district administration has released certain guidelines to be followed on January 14, 2022.

According to the guidelines, civilians are not allowed to enter the Har ki Pauri area. A night curfew has also been imposed from 10 pm till 6 am on January 14.

The order signed by Vinay Shankar Pandey, the District Magistrate of Haridwar district mentioned that the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a very high risk related to the Omicron variant. According to the WHO, Omicron has a considerable growth advantage over Delta, resulting in fast community dispersion. The order also mentioned that the rapid increase in cases will lead to an increase in hospitalizations, may place undue strain on health-care systems, and result in severe morbidity, especially among disadvantaged groups. The order mentioned the following guidelines:

  • Civilians are strictly prohibited from taking holy dips in River Ganga on the day of Makar Sankranti.
  • Tourists and devotees are strictly restricted from visiting holy places as well. They are also expected to follow the District Magistrate’s orders with effect.
  • Entry at Har Ki Pauri area is restricted. No over crowing is supposed to take place around the area.
  • The district of Haridwar will follow night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am till the district administration announces otherwise.
  • These orders are supposed to be publicised in the district so that they can be followed.
  • The notice also restricts any religious congregations very strictly.
  • If anyone is found going against these guideline, s/he will be held under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897.

India has reported 1,68,063 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24, with a total of 277 deaths.

A principal of a government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya district has been suspended after a viral video showed just boiled rice mixed with salt being served to the school children in a mid-day meal.

A video of school children eating rice-salt in mid-day meals inside the school in Ayodhya is doing rounds on social media.

The 2-minute video, shot by the student’s parents, shows children seated on the floor and eating the rice-and-salt served under the Centre’s Mid-Day Meal Scheme.

The cameraperson also shows a wall painted with the Mid-Day Meal menu which mentioned milk, roti, dal, vegetable and rice in lunch.

Where does this menu say rice-salt ? the man asked in the video.

Taking cognizance of the matter, District Magistrate Nitish Kumar said he has suspended the school principal on the basis of the video, which is doing rounds on social media. The DM has also ordered an inquiry into the case.

The food has to be served as per the scheme menu. No laxity will be tolerated, Kumar said.

In 2019, Pawan Jaiswal, a journalist with a Hindi newspaper in Mirzapur district, had been suspended days after he filmed children eating roti and salt in the mid-day meals served in a primary school in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh police had booked him for hatching a conspiracy to defame the government. Later, he was cleared by the UP police.

The video had sparked an opposition backlash against the BJP government in the state. The case was registered 10 days after the video went viral.

Former Bihar Tourism Minister Narayan Prasad has threatened to throw Junior Engineer and a Sub-Divisional Officer into the river Bettiah district of Bihar.

The incident happened in Nautan assembly constituency from where the former minister is a BJP MLA.

A video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. In the video, the former minister can be heard saying that he will throw them into the river. The minister can also be seen standing around a crow of people in the video.

After the video went viral on social media, many people started criticizing the former minister and said perhaps the stigma of being a minister has not ended for the former minister.

Former minister Narayan Prasad along with BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Satish Chandra Dubey had come to inspect the anti-erosion work being done on Nautan’s Mangalpur dam. On their visit, the BJP leaders heard people complaining about the irregularities in the work.

After talking to the people, who were present at the spot, Prasad got enraged and started threatening JE and SDO. During the conversation, his anger increased so much that he threatened to throw them into the river. Meanwhile, they were seen blaming each other in their defence.

Some believed that the JE is innocent while others claimed that it is the fault of the SDO.

One of the leading car manufacturers Tata Motors has finally launched its much-awaited electric version of Tiago. The company has introduced the vehicle at the starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh. Interested customers now can book the EV by visiting the authorized showroom or they can use the company’s official website for the same.

The newly launched Tiago EV model gets the blue finish from the front grille, covering the fog lamp housing. The hatchback also gets the blanked-off grille in gloss black under which customers gets the EV badging, tri-arrow pattern, and projector headlamps.

Know everything about Tata Tiago EV

The vehicle comes with the features like sport mode, linked car technology, leatherette seats, fully automatic air conditioning, a cooled glove box, and i-TPMS. Fast charging technology, cruise control, multi-mode regen, and ZConnect capabilities are also included on the new Tata Tiago EV. The majority of the functionality are also present in the standard ICE model. It has voice commands, a height-adjustable driver seat, a rear defogger, a rear parking camera, a multi-functional steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and an eight-speaker Harman music system.

The new Tiago electric, which has a Ziptron powertrain, is built on the same architecture as the Tigor EV. It comes with two battery packs, rated at 24kWh and 19.2kWh.

Initially, the company claimed a range of 315km. Later denied and it is will give a range 250km. Talking about the power, the long-range version generates 115Nm of torque and 55kW or 74bhp of power. The limited-range version offers 105Nm of torque and 45kW or 60bhp of power.
