Man orders laptop from Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale instead receives detergent soap bars, customer support blames him
The IIM graduate said that now the company’s customer care is blaming them for not checking the box before providing an OTP.

We have often heard of people receiving bizarre stuff instead of the one ordered. One such incident happened recently when a man claimed to have received detergent soap bars in place of a laptop he ordered for his father.
A man, identified as Yashaswi Sharma, said he ordered his father a laptop from Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale but he received a few bars of Ghadi detergent soap bars. The IIM graduate said that now the company’s customer care is blaming them for not checking the box before providing an OTP.
Yashaswi narrated the whole incident on LinkedIn. He wrote that he purchased a laptop from the Flipkart sale for his father. However, his father was unaware of the “open-box” delivery concept, which means that the customer is supposed to give OTP to the delivery boy only after inspecting the stuff they have ordered.

He said his father assumed that OTP was to be given upon receiving the package and so he gave it when the box was delivered. Yashaswi further said that he has the CCTV proof of the delivery boy coming and going without the box being inspected. And subsequently, the unboxing revealed no laptop inside.
He said when he took the matter up with Flipkart, the seniormost customer support executive said “No return possible” and blamed his father for sharing the OTP without checking the order. This is our final stance. This matter cannot be escalated further, he concluded.
The man then said his father’s fault is that he assumed the package came from a Flipkart assured seller and would contain a laptop and not detergent. He said Why couldn’t the delivery boy inform the receiver about the open box concept before asking for OTP?
He even requested his followers to amplify the story. While concluding, he said Posting this as my last attempt at resolution before I approach the consumer forum. Middle-class Indians cannot simply absorb a laptop’s worth of loss very easily. Please amplify!
