Raid 2: Ajay Devgn welcomes Vani Kapoor after she replaces Ileana D’Cruz

The crime drama Raid, starring Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz, was one of the best-received films of 2018. Rajkumar Gupta directed the movie, which was based on an actual event. The much awaited sequel, Raid 2, was recently revealed by its makers along with the first poster.

Vaani Kapoor has officially joined the cast of Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, it was recently reported. Ileana D’Cruz, who played Devgn’s love interest in the first film, has been replaced by Kapoor.

Ajay Devgn posted a photo of himself from the film’s shoot alongside Vaani and Ravi Teja on his Instagram story. “Joining the raid…welcome to our newest member Vaani Kapoor, welcome to the team!” he added. Raid2.”

Earlier this week, makers dropped the poster from the film, which showcased a pair of legs sporting classy shoes, saying, Amay Patnaik is back. It also revealed the movie’s release date. The film is set to hit the theaters on November 15, 2024.

“The wait is over!” read the caption. Returning to the role of IRS Officer Amay Patnaik in #Raid2, Ajay Devgn is poised to bring another real-life case to the big screen in November 2024! This time, IRS agent Amay Patnaik, AKA Ajay Devgn, is going to receive a fresh story. Are you prepared to find out whose home he will raid this time?, the makers captioned the post.

Meanwhile, a real-life income tax raid carried out in the 1980s by Income Tax Department, a division of the Indian Revenue Service, served as the inspiration for the first part of the film. Ajay played a law-abiding income tax officer in the film who robs a powerful man in Lucknow. In addition to earning favourable reviews from critics, the film was a box office hit.

The upcoming film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Abhishek Pathak, and Kumar Mangat Pathak. Raid 2 is a Panorama Studios production, presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series.

Meanwhile, Devgn will also appear in Maidaan, Shaitaan, Singham Again, and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha in addition to Raid 2.

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who appeared in several Hindi films and was particularly remembered for his role in the 2007 comedy Welcome, has died at the age of 56.

Khan was known for playing supporting characters across Hindi cinema and had worked in films spanning several decades. His role as Balu in Welcome remains among his best-known performances.

Mushtaq Khan’s film career

Mushtaq Khan appeared in a wide range of films during his career. His filmography included Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Gopi Kishan, Krantiveer, Raja, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jodi No. 1 and Hera Pheri.

He also featured in more recent films including Stree 2, Gadar 2, Baby John, Dhoom Dhaam and Jaat. His filmography lists acting work continuing into 2026.

In Welcome, Khan played Balu, a supporting character in the comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and other prominent actors.

Khan’s career also included television work, with his credits spanning a wide range of acting roles over the years.

Mushtaq Khan dies at 56

The actor’s death was reported on September 24, 2026. Reports said Khan had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with liver cancer and had been hospitalised for around 15 days. Further details surrounding his death were awaited in the initial reports.

Mushtaq Khan was 56. IMDb lists his date of birth as December 31, 1969.
