Shah Rukh Khan makes a commanding Met Gala debut in a black Sabyasachi ensemble, embodying the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’.

In a dazzling debut that fused classic elegance with bold flair, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his much-anticipated first appearance at the Met Gala 2025. The annual event, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, is globally recognised as the pinnacle of fashion excellence. This year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, celebrated the rich legacy of Black dandyism, with a dress code titled Tailored for You, putting menswear in the spotlight.

Shah Rukh Khan embraces grandeur with signature style

Making a striking impression, Shah Rukh Khan arrived in an all-black ensemble designed by ace Indian couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee. His outfit featured a floor-length trench coat layered over a casually unbuttoned shirt, creating a balance of refinement and rebellion. Adding a personal touch of opulence, he wore layers of bold jewellery including diamond-studded pendants etched with “K” and “SRK”, thick choker chains, and a dramatic selection of oversized rings.

In his hand, he carried a tiger-headed walking stick, enhancing the regal impact of his look. The actor confidently posed, smiled, and greeted fans while performing his iconic open-arms pose on the blue carpet, making it a memorable fashion moment.

A night celebrating culture, tailoring, and individuality

The 2025 Met Gala stood out as the first edition in over two decades to spotlight menswear exclusively. The theme drew inspiration from Slaves to Fashion, a 2009 book by Monica L. Miller, which delves into the intersections of Black identity, style, and dandyism from the 18th century onward.

Commenting on the cultural significance, committee member and singer Usher described the theme as “timely” and a celebration of a heritage that deserves global recognition. The night was co-chaired by renowned personalities including Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary co-chair.

SRK’s grand entrance not only marked his debut at the Met Gala but also firmly placed him among the most talked-about celebrities of the evening.
