Aamir Khan is returning to theatres this June with Sitaare Zameen Par, a new film that blends themes of accountability, transformation, and inclusivity through the lens of competitive sports. Scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025, the film marks another milestone in Aamir’s career, presenting him in a role unlike any he has played before.

The film’s trailer introduces Aamir as a man burdened by past actions and legal consequences, who finds himself assigned an unusual responsibility—coaching a group of specially-abled individuals aiming to compete in a national basketball tournament. His journey begins as a court-mandated punishment following a rash driving incident and insensitive remarks. However, what starts as an obligation evolves into a deeply personal and emotional path of self-realisation.

Unlike his earlier portrayal of a compassionate teacher in Taare Zameen Par, Aamir’s character here is conflicted, hardened by regret, and skeptical at first. The narrative focuses on how his interactions with the young players challenge his prejudices and ultimately change him.

The trailer also gives glimpses of Genelia D’Souza, who plays the love interest, and the ensemble of debutant actors representing specially-abled characters. These include Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar—all of whom bring fresh energy to the film.

Backed by Aamir Khan Productions along with Aparna Purohit, the film is helmed by a creative team featuring music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and screenplay penned by Divy Nidhi Sharma.

Positioned as a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par, this film explores not just the dynamics of coaching and competition, but the emotional growth that comes from understanding others beyond their labels. Sitaare Zameen Par promises a poignant and inspirational cinematic experience.
