Viral: TTE repeatedly slaps passenger on Barauni-Lucknow express, suspended

According to a Railways official, an inquiry has been initiated against the concerned TTE.

After a video of Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) repeatedly slapping a passenger on the Barauni-Lucknow express went viral on the internet, the Railway authorities suspended the ticket checker.

According to a Railways official, an inquiry has been initiated against the concerned TTE.

Sharing the video on X, Journalist Rajesh Sahu tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and asked for strict action against the concerned TTE for the unruly behaviour.

The incident took place on the Barauni-Lucknow Express (15203). In a viral video, an accused TTE can be seen repeatedly thrashing the passenger inside the train. Further, the passenger can also be seen asking the ticket checker the reason for the assault.

The suspension letter was issued by the Indian Railways Authority to the concerned TTE.

Reacting to the tweet on X by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Lucknow Division of North East Railway, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said zero tolerance for such misconduct, TTE has been suspended.

Last year,  a TTE, in an inebriated state, misbehaved with a woman passenger at Bengaluru railway station. The woman passenger alleged that the drunk TTE misbehaved with her while asking to show her ticket at the platform.

The TTE was also accused of trying to touch the woman passenger and abusing her. The accused alleged that she got onto the train without a ticket. Later, the TTE was suspended by the railways authority.

Several such incidents have been reported in the past as well. In another incident, a drunk TTE allegedly peed on a woman’s head onboard the Amritsar-Kolkata Akal Takht Express.

The woman was travelling with her husband and both were residents of Amritsar. Reports further said the incident took place at midnight in the A1 coach of Akal Takht Express and the drunk TTE was identified as Munna Kumar hailing from Bihar.

The accused TTE was nabbed by the passengers and handed over to the GRP when the train reached Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow.

Virat Kohli breaks silence over deleting all ads from Instagram account, says needed a reset

The interviewer, Nags, playfully asked if Kohli would share their ad-free clip on his account, only to be met with a swift, “Nope!” sparking laughter.

Cricket icon Virat Kohli addressed the buzz around his decision to wipe all advertisements from his Instagram account, calling it a necessary “reset”, during a candid chat with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

The move, which left fans puzzled earlier this month, reflects the star’s desire to step back from heavy social media engagement while keeping the door open for future changes.

In a lighthearted RCB video posted Tuesday, Kohli was quizzed about his soaring endorsement value after the Champions Trophy win. With a grin, he quipped, “Yes, it’s gone up!” When probed about his stripped-down Instagram profile, he explained, “I’m in a unique space with social media right now. I’m not feeling like diving in too much at the moment, but who knows what’s next? It just needed a fresh start.”

The interviewer, Nags, playfully asked if Kohli would share their ad-free clip on his account, only to be met with a swift, “Nope!” sparking laughter.

On April 9, Kohli stunned his 70 million followers by clearing his Instagram ‘posts’ section of all promotional content, paid partnerships, and ads, relegating them to the reels tab. His timeline now showcases personal moments—family snapshots, gym workouts, and glimpses of his IPL 2025 journey with RCB—offering a more intimate look at the 36-year-old’s life.

Speculation swirled that Kohli might be redirecting focus to personal ventures, but he clarified that the overhaul was about reclaiming his digital space. “It’s about finding balance,” he hinted, dispelling rumours of a strategic shift.

On the field, Kohli is in top form, dazzling in IPL 2025 with 248 runs across six innings, including three fifties, at a strike rate of 143.35. His latest gem—an unbeaten 65 off 33 balls against Rajasthan Royals—marked his 100th T20 fifty, making him the first Asian batter to hit this milestone. Tied with David Warner for the most IPL fifties (66), Kohli trails only Warner’s 108 in overall T20s.

Air India responds after Vir Das says injured wife not provided wheelchair

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing accessibility and comfort for all passengers.

On Tuesday, Air India responded to a complaint made by comedian and actor Vir Das on social media regarding the delay in providing a wheelchair for his wife, who has a broken leg.

Vir Das, who was travelling on flight AI816 from Mumbai to Delhi on April 14, also voiced concerns about broken tables and leg rests on the flight, which cost ₹50,000 per seat.

In its official statement, Air India showed understanding towards the passengers affected and acknowledged that the situation did not meet their expectations.

“We express our sympathy towards the guests, particularly regarding the mobility issue, and we admit that this experience was not up to standard. Our cabin crew did offer assistance, including the use of ‘ambulift’ as per standard operating procedures, but the delay in providing wheelchair support was due to an unexpected surge in demand for wheelchairs and personnel at that time,” the statement from Air India explained.

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing accessibility and comfort for all passengers.

Vir Das’s remarks about his experience with Air India came shortly before the airline’s clarification. He stated that, despite pre-booking a wheelchair for his wife, he received confused responses from the cabin crew when it was needed.

Das, 45, shared that his wife had to descend the aircraft steps using the stepladder with her fractured foot after landing in Delhi.

The actor also mentioned that despite spending ₹50,000 per seat, they encountered broken tables, damaged leg rests, and a seat that remained reclined.

Describing himself as a loyal customer of Air India, Das expressed regret at having to publicly criticize the airline. In a post shared on X earlier today, the Emmy-winning comedian wrote, “I’m a lifetime loyalist. I believe you’ve got the nicest cabin crew in the sky, this post pains me to write.”
