Viral: PVR Cinemas launches discounted offers after man complains about high price of popcorn, cold drinks

The PVR Cinemas has now introduced discounts and has slashed the prices for several food items and beverages.

Recently, a man went to watch a film in PVR Cinemas, Noida and complained on Twitter about the high price he paid for cheese popcorn and Pespsi at the multiplex. The theater has now taken cognizance of the complaint and acted on it. 

The PVR Cinemas has introduced discounts and has slashed the prices for several food items and beverages. Tridip K Mandal had posted the complaint on Twitter on July 2 which showed that he paid Rs 820 for cheese popcorn and Pepsi. Taking to Twitter, he wrote that he paid Rs 460 for 55gm of cheese popcorn and Rs 360 for 600ml of Pepsi, altogether Rs 820 at PVR Cinemas, Noida. He added that it is almost equal to the annual subscription of Amazon Prime video. He further exclaimed that it is no wonder why people do not go to cinemas anymore. He also claimed that watching films with family has now become unaffordable. 

The tweet by Mandal has gained more than 2.6 million views. On Wednesday PVR cinemas responded to the man’s tweet and informed the public about their updated prices. On Weekdays (Monday to Thursday), PVR Cinemas are offering several items like burger, samosa and sandwich together with Pepsi for Rs 99. In addition, on weekends they are offering unlimited popcorn and free refills of Pepsi. Tweeting about the offer, PVR Cinemas wrote that they believe that every opinion matters and that it must be respected. 

Responding to the tweet, Tripid K Mandal expressed that he is glad that PVR Cinemas took his tweet sportingly and acted on it. He added that it is a good move. While many social media user appreciated the move, one Twitter user asked the price for the bottomless deal and added that it is good to do such stuff and generate PR but kept some obvious stuff vague.

Travis Head’s 89 not out off 30 deliveries and Abhishek Sharma’s unbeaten 75 off 28 balls helped Sun Risers Hyderabad reach home in 9.4 overs.

Abhishek Sharma raced to his half-century in 19 balls. He continued his good form in IPL 2024 and got to his fifty with a 6 and later smashed a 4 in the same over that was bowled by Ayush Badoni. This win also means that Mumbai Indians are knocked out of the tournament. The Hardik Pandya-led side, which has 8 points after playing 12 games, could reach to a maximum of 12 points.

While Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sun Risers Hyderabad have already more than that in the points table, the winner from the Delhi Capitals Vs Lucknow Super Giants game on May 14 is also going to have at least 14 points.

Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten half century took the Lucknow Super Giants total to 165 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. For the Lucknow Super Giants, Badoni remained unbeaten on 55 runs and Nicholas Pooran was 48 not out pushed the innings forward after they elected to bat first. For Sun Risers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 2/12.

Travis Head’s sensational knock of 89 runs off just 30 deliveries earned him the Player of the Match award. Pat Cummins commended the outstanding batting performance and highlighted the exceptional skills of the 2 players. He acknowledged Abhishek Sharma’s remarkable display and admitted that it is a challenge to contain him when he is in top class form. Cummins was surprised at the unexpected birthday gift from the team.

An unseen photograph of Google CEO Sundar Pichai from his IIT Kharagpur convocation day in 1993 has gone viral on across social media platforms. The viral picture also shows Sharmistha Dubey, former CEO of Match Group, which owns dating apps like Hinge, OkCupid and Tinder.

An X user Ananya Lohani, shared the photograph on X and revealed her father graduated along with Sundar Pichai and Sharmishtha Dubey.  She captioned the post and wrote that her dad just shared this picture of his IIT KGP convocation (1993) with him, Sundar Pichai and Sharmistha Dubey in the same frame. This is absolutely insane.

The post has gone viral with 781000 views, 466 retweets and 9600 likes which are only increasing. Large number of X user users and Sundar Pichai fans started commenting on the viral picture with many of them also sharing the unseen photograph. One X user Yajas Sardana wrote Ananya Lohani has the most supreme referral google has ever seen.

Another user criticized Sundar Pichai for going abroad to work for google. He was of the opinion that Sundar Pichai could have stayed back in India and contributed towards the growth and development of the nation in a much better manner.

One X user Mikku said he was interested to know what profession Ananya Lohani’s father was currently involved in? May users sent their love on the viral picture with complimentary wishes.

One X user Prabhav Sharma said this picture is going to go viral and will be all over the internet.

One user Prakhar Patwardhan said Ananya Lohani’s father must be proud of her father’s achievement. He also asked her if her father is still in contact with Pichhai.

Another user asked if Sundar Pichai will pick up his father’s call if he called him?

One X user Jyotirup Samal said his father was in  MTech in the same year at IIT Kharagpur when Sunder Pichai was in his final year.

Bollywood veteran actor Dharmendra blessed renowned action director Mohan Baggad’s son actor Sonu Baggad, who is debuting in the Punjabi film industry with Travel Agent.

The Baljinder Singh Sidhu-helmed film had a muhurat ceremony yesterday, which was attended by Ranjeet, Gulshan Grover, Johny Lever, and Avatar Gill among others. The event took place at Sunny Super Sound in Mumbai, marking the beginning of the film, which is is produced by Satwinder Singh Matharoo.

On the auspicious occasion, Dharmedra, who considers Sonu as his nephew, expressed his joy by saying, he is attending Mahurat ceremony to bless Sonu Baggad for his debut film. He felt very good, the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani actor said. Sonu is talented and is starting his journey with a Punjabi film, he added. Dharmendra also expressed the desire to work with Sonu as he said, if there is a role for him in this film, he will definitely do it.

The story of Sonu Baggad’s Punjabi film Travel Agent revolves around the theme of many Punjabi people leaving their home and migrating to abroad for work. They leave behind their parents, families, and farming to work hard in foreign lands. The film aims to convey the message for the youth to serve their homeland, parents, and engage in farming while residing in their own country. The shooting for this film will soon begin in Punjab and Uttarakhand.

Travel Agent is produced under the banner of Gobind Films Creation Private Limited, with the collaboration of U.B.S. Productions. The music of the film has been composed by Gurmeet Singh, while the action director is Mohan Singh Baggad, and cinematography is Najib Khan.
