Delhi airport to replace all vehicles with EVs to cut greenhouse gas emissions

Indira Gandhi International Airport announced the implementation of the Green Transportation Program on the occasion of World Environment Day. DIAL revealed the main motive for launching the programme is to reduce more than approximately 1,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Amid the rise in the petrol price and continuously increasing greenhouse effect, causing climate change. Many leading car manufacturers in India started updating and launching electric vehicles in the country. To fight against the same, Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DIAL) also took a major step and announced Green Transportation Program on Monday, under which it decided to introduce 62 electric vehicles (EVs) to its airside operations.

Indira Gandhi International Airport announced the implementation of the Green Transportation Program on the occasion of World Environment Day. DIAL revealed the main motive for launching the programme is to reduce more than approximately 1,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually. The authority also said the 62 EVs for its airside operations are likely to launch withing3-4 months.

The runway, taxiway, and apron that are directly involved in the arrival and departure of aircraft are known as the airside area.

To make the program a success, the Delhi airport authority also will be installing high voltage and fast-charging stations in specific locations so that the vehicles can get charged without taking much time.

Under the Green Transportation Program, DIAL also putting all the effort in order to make its planning a big success. It has used Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to make changes in the EV’s charging station and worked closely with the airport stakeholders to adapt the EV culture on the premises.

Speaking on the initiative, DIAL CEO, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said, that DIAL has a plan for the future, under which it will make the Delhi Airport a Net Zero Carbon Emission Airport by 2030-31. The concerned team is working hard to achieve this big goal, Jaipuriar added.

Jaipuriar also said they are also planning to remove every light petrol and diesel vehicle with EV’s in Delhi Airport to contribute to the welfare of the society. It is a first-of-its-kind initiative by any Indian airport to ensure a clean transportation environment, DIAL CEO added.

The Indo-Japanese car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is currently enjoying the success of its newly launched vehicles that include new age Baleno, Ertiga facelift and the new XL6 in the country.

Now, the firm is all set to launch one of its hot-selling products Alto’s next-generation model in India on August 18, 2022. The company has already dropped an official teaser of the hatchback, revealing some of its key features and design.

According to the teaser, it can be seen that the upcoming next-generation Alto will launch with some noticeable cosmetic changes. The vehicle is also likely to resemble with its sibling Celerio. Report said that the car might launch on the brand’s new modular HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Wagon R, S-Presso and the new Celerio hatchback.

Next-gen Alto specs, features and other important details

The all-new Alto is likely to come with an updated design, which will make that hatchback more aggressive in terms of looks. However, the entry-level car will retain the basic signature shape and size. Talking about the front profile, the small car is likely to come to a new design with a bigger chrome grille, larger cladding, sweptback headlamps and redesigned bumper. The reports revealed that the hatchback also might come with an LED fog lamp and day running light.

As far as the side profile is concerned, the hatchback will share the same look as the current model but it will be taller than the outgoing car. Customers can expect 14-inch alloy wheels in the top variants. At the back, the updated Alto is likely to come with a tailgate design and a redesigned rear bumper.

The car might launch with a new K10C dualjet 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine with an idle start/stop system, under which it will generate 67bhp and 89Nm of peak torque.

Indian car manufacturer Mahindra’s one feature-loaded product XUV700 which was launched in 2021 has received an overwhelming response from customers in India. Since its launch, the company has witnessed almost 1.5 lakh bookings for the vehicle. But now, there are reports that claim that the firm might have to face a downfall in its booking as the company deleted some of the important features in the car. Yes, you read it right!

If you are planning to purchase an entry-level MX variant of XUV700, then you might get disappointed because the company has removed the features like rear parking sensors, height-adjustable driver seat, follow-me-home headlamps and rear spoiler from the entry-level MX variants. The development comes after when the homeland car makers started facing the shartage in in supply chain constraints along with semiconductor chips.

Apart from the base variant, the firm also made some changes in its top variant AX7 L of XUV700, under which it had also removed the rear wiper and defogger, and selective unlock for the doors and boot lid. In ordr to cut the cost, the firm also removed the adaptive cruise control mode in the top-spec AX7 L Manual version. Now it comes with the normal cruise control feature only.

If you still want to ignore all these changes, and planning to purchase the vehicle, then you have to wait for years as the SUV is having the waiting period of almost of 2 years.

Meanwhile, the newly launched Mahindra XUV700 comes with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. In both the engine options the vehicle gets 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. As far as the power is concerned, the petrol engine generates the max power output of 200bhp and a peak torque of 380Nm. While the diesel powertrain offers the max power of 155bhp and 360Nm, and 185bhp and 420Nm.

The Indian car manufacturer Mahindra on Saturday started taking the official booking for its feature-loaded next-gen Scorpio N. The reports revealed that the company has received more than 1 lakh bookings for the vehicle in the span of 30 minutes. In fact, it also has been reported that the firm recorded 25,000 bookings within one minute of booking commencement.

Interested customers can book king-size SUVs through the company’s official website. Customers also can visit the authorized dealers for the same. Meanwhile, the company will start the deliveries newly launched SUV on September 26, 2022. The car firm aims to deliver 20,000 units of the new Scorpio-N by December 2022. The company said that it will deliver Scorpio’s N top-of-the-line Z8L variants will be prioritized.

Two engine choices are offered for the new SUV: a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel and a 2.0-liter m Stallion turbo petrol. The vehicle generates 200bhp, with a maximum torque of 370Nm (MT)/380Nm (AT) in the petrol version. While, the diesel engine has two power outputs: 130 bhp and 300 nm for the base model, and 175 bhp and 370 nm (MT)/400 nm (AT) for the higher model.

The company has introduced two different transmission options in the SUV, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 6-speed manual.

Customers will also get the rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options in the diesel version, which provide a smoothing driving experience for the driver. The vehicle also comes with three ride modes—Zip, Zap, and Zoom on the diesel versions.

Price of next-generation Mahindra Scorpio 2022

The base variant of the new Scorpio N costs Rs. 11.99 lakh, and the highest-specified model costs Rs. 23.9 lakh. The price range for the petrol Scorpios is between Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 20.95 lakh, whereas the price range for the diesel Scorpios is between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 23.9 lakh.
