Govinda and Krushna Abhishek
Let's have a look at the timeline of Krushna and Govinda's matter.

The tumultuous relationship between actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, and actor-comedian Krushna Abhishek, has been out in public for years now. The rift between the two started in 2016, and ever since they have gotten into several spats with each other. Recently, Krushna apologized to his maternal uncle Govinda after he appeared on Maniesh’s podcast.

Krushna got emotional as he said that his statements were twisted by the media and he really misses his mama Govinda. To which the actor has now responded to his nephew’s apology and said that let this love also be seen off-camera. But what actually led to the rift between Krushna Abhishek and Govinda?

What happened between Krushna and Govinda?

Let’s have a look at the timeline of Krushna and Govinda’s matter.

2016: When Krushna got upset with uncle Govinda for not appearing on his show

It was 2016 when Govinda returned to the silver screen with the film Jagga Jassos, also featuring Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor. For the promotion of the film, the actor appeared on Sony TV’s The Kapil Sharma Show with his wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina and ditched his nephew’s show. Krushna was hosting the Colors show Comedy Nights Live and was expecting Govinda to appear on his show first. But when he learned that Govinda was having a gala time shooting with Kapil Sharma and his team, it didn’t go down well with Krushna.

Speaking to a leading news portal, Krushna said our dates didn’t appear to be in sync for some reason. I messaged him again four days ago, and to my surprise, he and his wife were scheduled to shoot with Kapil on Wednesday. I was taken aback because I expected him to support his nephew.

Why did Govinda ditch Krushna’s show and appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show?

Govinda was furious with Krushna over a comment he made on the show related to him. For the unversed, Krushna cracked a joke saying, ‘Maine Govinda ko Apna mama Rakha hai’ (I have kept Govinda as my uncle), which didn’t go down well with the veteran actor. Krushna further said that I tried to convince him that it wasn’t in poor taste. Calling him my mama, in fact, elevates my status. It wasn’t meant to be insulting in any way. I don’t mind being referred to as Govinda’s nephew; it’s like a second identity for me. A celebrity is free to appear on other shows, but as a family, I expected him to appear on mine first, he added. He further said Govinda is acting like a superstar and not his Chi Chi mama.

In response to this, Govinda said Krushna has been making money by insulting others on television. He said he was extremely upset with the mama rakha hai remark. He further said that he advised him to avoid making such statements in the guise of jokes because they could be demeaning. He added that his wife Sunita convinced him to let Krushna work, and he agreed because that is how he earns money. He said, I’m used to reading all kinds of stuff about myself, good, bad, and ugly, but it’s annoying when a family member makes a personal conversation public. This is not acceptable. I’m not sure I can trust him anymore, he added.

Furthermore, he said he had seen Krushna roasting Khans, Salman, and Shah Rukh. He is quite polite. He is more concerned with a person’s “good time” than with the artist. Maybe when I have a good time, I’ll go to his show. I can’t change my personality to fit the format of a show overnight, he added.

2018: Major misunderstanding between Govinda and Krushna

It was in 2018 when Krushna’s wife Kashmera Shah tweeted that there are ‘some people who dance for money’. This statement made Govinda’s wife furious and alleged that Kashmera was referring to Govinda and the couple decided to cut off ties with them.

Sunita said everything was well until Kashmera had the guts to defame us on social media.  In that post, she referred to us as “those who dance for money.” It was none of her business, even if we were compensated for our appearance. Almost every Bollywood celebrity charges for television appearances. Plus, she isn’t the one who gave us the money. I’m not sure if she deleted that post now, but it was viewed by most of our relatives and family friends at the time, she added.

Krushna then clarified that it was meant for his sister Arti Singh, but Sunita was unconvinced. This later led to the major fallout between the two families.

When Krushna opted out from The Kapil Sharma Show episode featuring Govinda

Last November, Krushna Abhishek, a part of The Kapil Sharma Show’s main cast, decided to skip an episode featuring Govinda as a celebrity guest. He said he learned about Chi Chi mama appearing on the show around 10 days ago and the team assumed that since Sunita Mami was not accompanying him, he would have no reservations about performing. The incident, however, has left a sour taste in my mouth, said Krushna. She didn’t want me to perform in front of them last year, but I was hesitant this time, he added.

Krushna went on to say that he had a good relationship with Govinda, but the hatred had a negative impact on him.

When Krushna accused Govinda of not visiting his sick twins

During the lockdown, Krushna claimed he tried to contact his uncle and accused him of not visiting to see his sick twins. Krushna attempted to call Govinda but got no response. He also stated that it bothers him, but that he is helpless to do anything if Govinda refuses to see him.

They didn’t even show up at the hospital to see my twins, even while one of them was struggling for his life, said Krushna. How much more can I try to fix our problems, which are founded on a misunderstanding?

However, following Krushna’s allegations, Govinda put out a statement in which he stated that he visited the hospital when the twins were admitted and met the doctor and nurse who were looking after them. However, the nurse informed me that the children’s mother, Kashmera Shah, did not want any of the surrogate babies’ family members to see them. We were allowed to see the babies from a far distance after insisting.
