Released in theatres on December 20, 2024, in both Tamil and Telugu, Viduthalai Part 2 quickly garnered significant attention and praise. The film’s gripping storyline, coupled with exceptional performances from its stellar cast, solidified its position as a must-watch cinematic experience.

The ensemble cast includes not only the charismatic Vijay Sethupathi but also a talented array of actors such as Manju Warrier, Soori, Gautam Vasudev, Rajiv Menon, and Anurag Kashyap, each adding their unique flair to the narrative. Their powerful portrayals contribute significantly to the film’s overall impact.

Viduthalai Part 2 is a captivating adaptation of Jeyamohan’s short story, Thunaivan, exploring the complex and intense conflict between a steadfast police constable and a determined separatist group leader. Pushpa 2 box office collection Day 45: Allu Arjun’s film run ends after 6 weeks

The overseas contribution stands at approximately ₹270.5 crore according to Sacnilk.

Published

on

The extended-cut release of Pushpa: The Rule on January 17th, hoped to reignite fan enthusiasm and boost box office numbers, has ultimately fallen short of expectations. The “reloaded” version failed to provide the significant resurgence needed, leaving the Allu Arjun-starrer struggling in its seventh week of theatrical run. The film’s performance has been significantly underwhelming, marked by a steep 61.58% decline in earnings by the end of its sixth week.

This downturn casts a shadow over the previously reported figures. While the film’s global collection is estimated at ₹1731.65 crore as of January 18th, this is considerably less than the ₹1831 crore announced by the filmmakers on January 6th. This discrepancy raises questions about the accuracy of the previously reported figures and the film’s overall box office success. Independent trackers, like Sacnilk, report a significantly lower number, further highlighting the inconsistency in the reported figures. The overseas contribution stands at approximately ₹270.5 crore according to Sacnilk.

The film’s current trajectory suggests that it’s unlikely to reach even ₹1800 crore in worldwide collections, falling far short of its initial projections. This underperformance significantly impacts its standing amongst the highest-grossing Indian films. While the producers declared Pushpa: The Rule an “industry hit” and the fastest Indian film to cross ₹1831 crore, this claim remains unsubstantiated and disputed by independent box office trackers. The film still trails behind Baahubali 2 (₹1790 crore gross) and Dangal (₹2070 crore gross) in terms of worldwide earnings.

The film’s daily earnings further underscore its declining performance. On its 45th day (January 18th), Pushpa: The Rule managed to garner only an estimated ₹1.1 crore, with a meager ₹0.3 crore from Telugu and ₹0.8 crore from Hindi markets. Its performance in Kannada and Malayalam has practically ceased, while Tamil collections are negligible. The total India net collection stands at ₹1226.75 crore, indicating a significant slowdown in revenue generation. Given these current trends, the prospect of Pushpa: The Rule surpassing Baahubali 2’s record now seems highly improbable. The initial excitement surrounding the film has clearly waned, leaving its ultimate box office success significantly in doubt.

On Saturday night, Bollywood singer Jasleen Royal surprised fans by opening a Coldplay concert at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, enhancing the British rock band’s performance with her unique flair. She commenced the show with a heartfelt rendition of her song “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.”

The highlight of the evening occurred when she joined Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, for a duet of “We Pray,” a track from their latest album, “Moon Music.” The night was filled with surprises, as Chris Martin infused an Indian essence into the concert. He entertained fans by reading placards from the audience, expressing gratitude with “Shukriya” and exclaiming “Jai Shri Ram,” which elicited enthusiastic applause. Martin even engaged the crowd by inquiring about the meaning of the phrase.

Jasleen took to Instagram to share moments from the evening, posting clips from her performance and rehearsals. Accompanying a snippet with Chris Martin, she expressed her gratitude with the caption, “Thank you Mumbai, I love you.” She dazzled the audience in a shimmering black outfit, complemented by smoky makeup and wavy hair.

The concert, organized by BookMyShow Live, was a sensory delight featuring Coldplay classics like “Fix You” and “A Sky Full of Stars.” In a playful moment, Martin gave a shoutout to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, joking, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage. He says he needs to bowl at me now.” Despite Bumrah’s absence, the mention delighted the audience.

Before the concert, Martin and his partner, actor Dakota Johnson, added a spiritual dimension to their visit by wearing traditional Indian attire during a trip to the Shri Babulnath Temple.

Coldplay’s India tour is set to continue with performances in Mumbai on January 19 and 21, followed by two shows in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. Additionally, local authorities issued a notice to Chris Martin regarding safety measures, stating that children should not be allowed on stage or into the venue without proper hearing protection, and that sound levels must not exceed 120 decibels.
