The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to allow a probe by a special investigation team into allegations against the Adani Group last January’s Hindenburg Research report. It said the Securities Exchange Bureau of India would continue its investigation as the Court did not have any reason to interfere with Sebi’s powers.

The Supreme Court directed SEBI to complete its investigation into the two remaining cases within three months. After the verdict, shares of Adani Enterprises jumped 2.98% to Rs 3019.30 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Adani Group founder Gautam Adani has reacted to the Supreme Court Verdict. He took to X(formerly Twitter) and wrote Truth has prevailed. I am grateful to those who stood by us. Our humble contribution to India’s growth story will continue. Jai Hind.

Advocate and petitioner Vishal Tiwari told the media that the Supreme Court has very clearly said that whatever report, given by any third party, cannot be taken as conclusive proof and there must be evidence that must that may support (the case).

The Supreme Court has asked the Union government and SEBI to look into whether there is any infraction of law by the Hindenburg report on short selling. In the verdict the Supreme Court has cautioned that petitions lacking adequate research and relying on unverified materials can be counter-productive to public interest jurisprudence.

The Chief justice of India – led bench said that Hindenburg or any other such report cannot become the basis of ordering a separate probe. The Supreme Court said SEBI should proceed and conclude its probe as per the law.

On 24 January 2023, Hindenburg Research released a report alleging malpractices at Adani Group companies, leading to the cancellation of a $2.4 billion share sale and significant drop in the group’s market capitalization. Adani Group issued a 413-page response denying the allegations

Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj caught in a candid conversation during a public event, sparking engagement rumors.

Social media has been abuzz with rumors that Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has gotten engaged to Lok Sabha MP Priya Saroj. However, these reports have been clarified by a statement from Rinku’s father, Tufoani Saroj, who categorically denied any formal engagement.

The rumors gained traction when discussions about a potential match between Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj circulated online, suggesting that the two had solidified their relationship through engagement. Priya Saroj, a respected MP from the Machhlishahr constituency in Uttar Pradesh, has also been in the spotlight not only for her political acumen but also for her impressive educational background, having studied at Delhi University and practiced law at the Supreme Court before entering politics.

In response to the viral news, Tufoani Saroj, a former MP himself, has stated that while there have been family discussions regarding the two young individuals, no engagement has taken place. He emphasized that the news circulating on social media is not accurate and that any decision regarding the engagement will be taken seriously and with consideration in the future.

Priya Saroj, known for her dynamic presence in Indian politics, notably defeated a senior BJP leader to enter the Lok Sabha, marking her as a significant figure in her political field. On the other hand, Rinku Singh has made his mark in the cricket world as a promising batsman for Team India, having participated in numerous T20 and ODI matches and achieving notable batting averages in both formats.

The combination of Rinku Singh’s sporting prowess and Priya Saroj’s political impact makes the engagement rumors particularly compelling for the public and media alike. However, as it stands, the families involved have put forth a clear stance that no engagement has occurred, and any future developments will be approached with careful thought and respect for both individuals’ ongoing careers.

Audio clip reveals Sheikh Hasina recounting past assassination attempts

Published

In an emotionally charged audio note released by the Awami League, former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shared her personal agony over the conspiracies she faced and her miraculous escapes from death. Recorded in her native language, Bangla, Hasina’s voice trembles as she recounts the trials that have marked her political and personal life, particularly focusing on her narrow escapes from assassination.

“We escaped death by just 20-25 minutes,” Hasina discloses in the audio, referring to several critical moments including the August 21, 2004, grenade attack during a rally, which resulted in 24 fatalities, and narrowly missing a bomb plot in July 2000 at Kotalipara. These incidents, she implies, were not just attacks on her but on the stability of Bangladesh itself.

Since fleeing to Delhi with her sister Rehana on August 5, 2024, following a violent uprising by a student movement, Hasina has lived in political asylum. She resigned just minutes before a violent mob overran her residence, leading to extensive vandalism and looting. Hasina narrates, “I am suffering, I am without my country, my home, everything has been burned,” illustrating her profound sense of loss and displacement.

The request for her extradition by Bangladesh on charges of corruption remains pending, with the Indian foreign ministry confirming receipt but offering no further comment. This political strife has not only affected Hasina personally but has also strained the diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and India, especially given the targeted violence against Hindu minorities during the upheavals.

The political landscape of Bangladesh has drastically changed with an interim government now led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, backed by the military. This shift represents a significant departure from Hasina’s leadership, which was deeply influenced by her father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader of Bangladesh.

Hasina’s audio message serves as a poignant reminder of the personal costs of political conflict and the enduring impact of leadership in exile. As she asserts her belief that “Allah wants me to do something more,” it underscores her continued commitment to her country, even from afar, and highlights the ongoing challenges faced by leaders in volatile political environments.

In a shocking incident early Thursday, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was repeatedly stabbed by an intruder at his Bandra residence, as recounted by his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. The assault occurred in their home on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building and led to Mr. Khan receiving immediate surgical treatment for severe injuries.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, while giving her statement to Bandra Police, described the terrifying moments of the attack. “The assailant was very aggressive. I witnessed him stabbing Saif multiple times. Our immediate concern was getting him to the hospital,” she explained.

The attacker, who did not steal any valuables, fled the scene shortly after the assault. Mrs. Khan, deeply shaken by the events, sought refuge at her sister Karisma Kapoor’s residence following the attack.

Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was admitted for surgery. The knife attack resulted in significant injuries, including spinal fluid leakage due to knife shards impacting his spine. Despite the severity of the situation, doctors have reported that Mr. Khan is recovering well and could be discharged within a few days.

The initial police investigation revealed that the attacker had broken into the Khan residence by scaling a wall and navigating the building’s layout, which he seemed familiar with. He entered through the fire escape, confronting the family and a nurse who was the first to encounter him.

CCTV footage has captured images of the suspect, who covered his face and was seen climbing stairs within the building both before and after the incident. The police have yet to make an arrest but have detained and released one individual not connected to the attack. Over 30 witness statements have been recorded, and the police have formed specialized teams to accelerate the investigation.
