Bollywood’s legendary singer Asha Bhosle has turned 88 today. The classic singer has given more than a hundred soulful songs to the Indian Music Industry. From Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko to Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, the legendary singer lent voice to songs in several languages including Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Asha Bhosle started her singing career in 1943 and from then there was no turning back. She worked for more than 6 decades and her journey has undeniably been remarkable. It was 2011 when the singer was acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history.

The versatile voice of Asha made her bag several prestigious accolades including Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

The rivalry between Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar:

Asha Bhosle is the younger sister of the most influential singer of India, Lata Mangeshkar. For decades, both the sisters have represented the Indian music industry with their soulful singing. However, there came a time when both the sisters turned enemies. For those who don’t know, Lata Mangeshkar took responsibility for her family at the young age of 14 after her father passed away.

Reportedly, at the age of 16, Asha eloped with a man, Ganpatrao Bhosle, who was 31 years old. Lata did not approve of their marriage and decided to cut all ties with her. Later, Asha’s marriage did not end well and she parted ways with her husband. When Asha started off her singing career, Lata had already carved a niche for herself in the industry. The struggler Asha became desperate to be more successful than her sister and started taking every singing project that came her way.

It is believed that the feud between the sisters became troublesome for musicians back then. However, the sisters shorted their differences later. Asha Bhosle also received an award from her sister Lata.
