Delay in services of Delhi Metro's blue line due to cable theft, restoration work to be completed at night

Services on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro are affecting the commuters for a long time. Commuters have to wait for long hours to board the trains. The passengers travelling in a blue line metro are facing a delay from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Botanical Garden on a regular basis.

The delay in a blue line metro happens mostly in peak hours. Frustrated by this, people took to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) official Twitter handle and started criticizing DMRC for regular delays. Passengers have been complaining to DMRC for reaching late to their offices because of their long halts and slow speed of the metro. One of the passengers also stated that he missed his flight because of long halts in the blue line.

DMRC on Tuesday morning posted a photo on Twitter of an Aqua line metro stationed on the track where water is showering on the metro. DMRC in a caption wrote, Thande Thande paani se nahana chahiye! And seeing people couldn’t keep calm and started raising complaints they are facing in a metro on a daily basis.

One of the passengers tweeted, thoda blue line ko bhi nehla do, bhot rukk rukk kar chalti hai, while the another tweeted, aap isey zyaada thande paani se nehla dete ho, isliye iske signal down rehte hai aur bhot baar hum office deri se pohchte hai.

We pay the highest fair price to Delhi metro for better service but sometimes it is worse than Delhi’s traffic, while the fifth user wrote, metro should reduce gate opening and closing time at stations to reduce journey time as anyway there is no social distancing nowadays.

A viral video has come to light from UP’s Jaunpur district where a Dalit man can be seen being thrashed and tortured after suspicion of theft. In the video, the man can be seen being dragged to a nearby by his clothes where two men can be seen hanging the Dalit man upside down into the well.

The video also shows the man being tied to a pillar where he is being confronted by a mob of men on suspicion of theft. The way of punishing the man can be called heinous and torturous as the man can be seen pleading in every possible way to stop the two men from torturing him.

After the video of a Dalit man being tortured in the video emerged on the internet, many Twitter users came forward to condemn the actions taken by the men in the video. While taking the incident as a representation of the whole country being plagued with casteist incidents, one user remarked that either the lawmakers have not been fulfilling their duties or the belief of Manusmriti has been taking over the country.

The user further added that this is the reason for rampant caste-based violence in the country. Another user, however, tried to dismiss the caste angle by stating that a thief doesn’t have a caste, implying he becomes a thief by the deed he does. He suggested that it wasn’t important to consider the caste angle.

A similar incident transpired in August in UP’s Muzaffarnagar where a Dalit man was thrashed by the former village head on camera with slippers. The video of the incident went viral after which, the UP police took cognizance of the issue and booked the two people who thrashed the Dalit man. The accused in the video were booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
