People all across India are bidding adieu to Lord Ganesh on Thursday after 10 days of festivities. Devotees, especially in Maharashtra hog all the limelight during Ganesh Chaturthi with different theme-based pandals, eco-friendly idols, and celebrations. However, this time Hyderabad caught the attention.
A video of Ganesh visarjan from Hyderabad is going viral across the social media platforms. The video shows Hyderabad police personnel grooving to upbeat songs and traditional dholak at a Ganesh visarjan procession at Tank Bund while a 63-feet Bada Ganesh of Khairtabad was taken for immersion amid elaborate security arrangements.
On the other hand, laddu auctions in Balapur, Telangana and Bandlaguda, Hyderabad have set remarkable records in the city. According to reports, the famous Balapur Ganesha’s laddu was sold for Rs 27 lakh, marking a new milestone. An unprecedented record was secured during the laddu action at Bandlaguda’s Richmond Villas, where it gained a staggering sum of Rs 1.26 crore.
As far as reports are concerned, annually the residents of Richmond Villas conduct the auction of the Ganesh laddu as part of their festivities. The organisers of the auction remarked that the proceeds from the auction are utilized for various charitable purposes that includes supporting schools, healthcare facilities along with providing groceries to Non-governmental organisations.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm across various states in the country. While some perform Visarjan after 1.5, 3, 5, or 7 days, the final day of the festival holds significance as it is believed to mark Lord Ganesha’s return to his heavenly abode.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 celebrations commenced on September 19 and is set to conclude today, September 28. Every year, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. The festivities usually continue for ten days and are referred to as Ganapati festival. The auspicious occasion is celebrated with various special delicacies, Ganapati aartis to appease the Lord.
