Haryana’s new Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday won the trust vote in the State Assembly. The development came a day after he took an oath of office after the resignation of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the BJP breaking alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP over Lok Sabha seat-sharing contestation.
Addressing the Haryana Assembly, CM Saini praised Khattar for his work as the former Chief Minister and said that he focused on improving governance in the State. The newly-elected CM made an appeal to all the members of the House to support his government. He said even the people of Haryana have confidence in his government.
Emphasising his government’s work in Haryana, he said that innumerable works have been done by his government. It will take a lot of time if he mentions it all, he said. Saini said he has come here seeking confidence to serve the people of Haryana, and to launch new programs for the welfare of the State, for the people of the State, CM Saini asserted.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and all the Union Ministers and especially to Khattar, he said that he comes from a very humble family background, no one is in politics in his family. Said added that he is just a party worker of the BJP and today he has been given such a big opportunity. He further added that this can be only possible in a party like the BJP.
Even after the JJP issued a whip to its legislators asking them to not present for the no-confidence motion, four JJP MLAs including Devender Babli, Ram Kumar Gautam, Ishwar Singh and Jogi Ram Sihag were present in the House.
While addressing the Assembly, the former Haryana CM Khattar announced his resignation as MLA from the Karnal constituency. Although, Khattar is an MLA from Karnal, while Nayab Saini has yet not contest the Assembly elections. He also has to contest Assembly polls.
So, he announced his resignation in the House today from the Karnal Vidhan Sabha seat and asked Nayab Saini, from now onwards, to take care of the Karnal constituency.
Meanwhile, a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) seeking quashing of the appointment of the Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, has been filed at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The case is yet to be listed for hearing, as per the reports.
