Amidst alleged ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) from both sides, India and Pakistan summoned each other’s envoys on Friday. Both sides claimed that military ceasefire violations have caused the civilian killings.

In New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs summoned Pakistan’s deputy high commissioner Syed Haider Shah to convey its concern  saying that its soldiers had breached the truce over a 100 times in January alone.

“The government conveyed its grave concern to the deputy high commissioner of Pakistan Syed Haider Shah at the continued ceasefire violations and “deliberate” targeting of innocent civilians by Pakistan forces,” the statement issued by Ministry of External Affairs said.

The statement further said, “Pakistan was called upon to adhere to the 2003 ceasefire understanding for maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control and the International Boundary.”

Meanwhile, Press Trust of India reports from Islamabad that Pakistan also summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh on Friday for the second time in two days over the alleged “unprovoked ceasefire violations” by the Indian forces that killed Pakistani citizens.

Mohammad Faisal, Director General, dealing with South Asia & SAARC affairs in the in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned JP Singh for “unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Working Boundary on 19th January in Sialkot Sector.”

Faisal said the firing resulted in the death of a 24-year-old civilian and injured nine others in village Harpal. On Thursday JP Singh was summoned after two women died in the alleged unprovoked ceasefire violations.

He said, “The Indian forces along the Working Boundary are continuously engaged in indiscriminate and unprovoked firing with heavy mortars and automatic weapons on the civilian populated villages, since the last 2 days.” He alleged that despite calls for restraint, India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations.

Pakistan claimed that in 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 125 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary in just 19 days, killing 4 innocent civilians and injuring 20 others.

“This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1900 ceasefire violations,” he said.

In an identical manner, Pakistan has also urged India to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement and investigate the ceasefire violations and permit UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

In September 2016 Indian forces had conducted “surgical strikes” against terror launch pads across the LoC in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in inflicted “significant casualties. However, Pakistan had rejected Indian claim saying its forces did not crossed the LoC but had only skirmished with Pakistani troops att he border.

PM Modi on Kharge’s Ravan remark, says Congress is competing who can abuse him more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hit back at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s Ravan comment and said there’s a competition going on among Congress leaders as to who can use the most abusive words for him and deliver the stinging attack.

Addressing an election campaign in the Kalol town of Panchmahal district, Modi said the only way to teach Congress a lesson is by voting for Lotus in the second phase of elections in Gujarat.

He further said that Congress doesn’t believe in democracy and can go to any extent to please the people. Modi said Congress believes in one family and not democracy. They can do anything to please that one family and that family is everything to them, not democracy.

Those who never believed in the existence of Lord Ram have now brought in (demon king) Ravan from Ramayana, he said. Further quoting him he said he is surprised they never expressed repentance, and forget about tendering an apology, after using such cuss words for him.

Addressing a large gathering, he further stated a few days back, a Congress leader said Modi will die a dog’s death, and another said Modi will die Hitler’s death. Another said if he gets a chance, he’ll kill Modi himself.

Someone says Ravan, someone says rakshas (demon), someone says cockroach, he said, he is not surprised that Congress calls Modi names, but he is surprised that despite using such words, the Congress never has remorse. Congress thinks it is their right to insult Modi, the Prime Minister of this country, he added.

PM Modi’s remark came just days after Kharge referred to Modi as Ravan while speaking at a rally in Ahmedabad. Kharge questioned whether PM Modi has 100 heads because he is the face of all elections, whether civic or assembly. Modi Ji is the Prime Minister, and all the time he’s talking about himself. How many times do we see your face? How many forms do you have? Do you have 100 heads like Ravan? he stated.
