The rail roko protest of Punjabi farmers demanding MSP legal protection, a broad debt relief, and compensation for crops damaged in the recent floods began its third day today.

Many trains have been cancelled, short-terminated, or diverted as a result of the unrest, according to railway officials.

As part of their three-day agitation, the farmers have been blocking railway tracks at various locations in Faridkot, Samrala, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Sangrur, Patiala, Ferozepur, Bathinda, and Amritsar since Thursday.

In Punjab and Haryana, the protest has halted hundreds of rail passengers.

A train passenger at the Ludhiana station claimed that he had travelled by road from Jalandhar City in order to board a train to Gorakhpur, but the arrival time of the train was unknown.

Another passenger at the station claimed that the Amritsar-bound train that was scheduled to carry 12 members of his family to Bihar had to be cancelled due to the unrest.

Later, they discovered that the family had journeyed by road from Amritsar and that the train would leave from Ludhiana. He continued, however, there has still been no update on the train.

According to officials, the Ambala and Ferozepur railway divisions have suffered specifically as a result of the farmers’ unrest.

The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Bharti Kisan Union (Krantikari), Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Azaad), Azaad Kisan Committee, Doaba, Bharti Kisan Union (Behramke), Bharti Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh), and Bharti Kisan Union (Chottu Ram) are among the farmer organisations taking part in the three-day demonstration.

The angry farmers have stated that the three-day protest will end on Saturday.

Their requests include a financial aid package for those in north India hit by floods, a statutory guarantee of the minimum support price (MSP) for all crops, and a farmer debt forgiveness programme.

The Swaminathan Commission report’s proposals for MSP and a 50,000 crore flood relief package for the states of northern India are what the farmers are asking for.

In addition, they want the debt of all farmers and labourers to be forgiven, as well as compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a government job for the families of each farmer killed during the protests against the three farm laws that have since been repealed.

Two days after the Congress was defeated by the BJP in the Rajasthan assembly election, Karni Sena head Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead in his Jaipur residence on Tuesday, sparking a political brawl.

The Karni Sena announced a state-wide bandh on Wednesday in response to the murder, while the BJP, which is set to take power in the state, asserted that the killing was part of the Congress’ revenge plan after the party lost the election.

In a video posted by BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi claims that police were notified of a potential security danger, but Congress chief minister Ashok Gehlot scaled back his protection.

On Tuesday, three men riding bikes approached Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi’s Jaipur home and opened fire. Social media users were able to see the CCTV footage of the shootout incident.

As he returned fire, one of Gogamedi’s security guards was shot. The cross-firing claimed the life of one of the three attackers. Although the authorities first said the attacker died from gunfire from Gogamedi’s security guards, he was really shot and killed by his cronies.

Gogamedi posted on X on December 3, the day the election results were announced and the Congress lost to the BJP, citing the Congress’s disregard for the Karni Sena as the reason for the defeat.

The murder was committed by the Rohit Godara gang, according to Rajasthan Police. Gangster Rohit Godara has deep ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar gangs.

In protest over the death, Gogamedi’s followers called for a bandh on Wednesday and threatened to shut down the entire state if something was not done about it.

All of the state’s popular leaders, including Rajyavardhan Rathore, Ashok Gehlot of the Congress, Sachin Pilot of the BJP, and Vasundhara Raje of the Congress, condemned the death, which occurred when everyone was waiting for the BJP to form the next government. Not long after the BJP took control, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate dubbed it the’return of jungle raj.

The right-wing leader of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, drank tea with the men who killed him at his Jaipur home first. In a terrifying footage of the incident, the accused was seen sitting next to Gogamedi before shooting him, taking him by surprise. He was close-range shot at least five times, the last bullet going right through his brain.

The commander of the fringe outfit can be seen on CCTV staring at his phone when the individuals seated across from him got up and opened fire. The gunmen opened fire on him after seeing one of his guards attempt to stop them.

They (the attackers) sat with Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi for at least 10 minutes before shooting him, according to police.

The men can be seen firing at Gogamedi repeatedly in the 20-second video, even after he had stopped moving.

Reports state that the incident happened at approximately 12:30 PM today. After being hurt and being taken to a hospital, Gogamedi and two of his friends were informed that the well-known Rajput chieftain had passed away.

One of the Goldy Brar gang members has taken credit for the killing. We accept complete accountability for the killing of Sukhdev Gogamedi, Rohit Godara Kapurisr said on Facebook. He said the incident was sparked by Gogamedi’s used to support their enemies.

Gogamedi was a member of the Rajput Karni Sena, the group that had organised the demonstrations against the Bollywood film Padmaavat. Later, under the leadership of Lokendra Singh Kalvi, he broke away from the group and started his own group in 2015.
