New Delhi: Youth beaten to death in Ranjit Nagar, whole incident captured in CCTV | Watch

The police have ruled out any communal angle in the incident but said that the two parties belong to different communities.

A 27-year-old man was killed in National Capital while his friend was injured in a fight with another group in Ranjit Nagar. A CCTV footage showed a brawl between two groups On Sunday night with three people on each side before the murder took place.

The fight happened on October 12 night when Alok, Monty and Nitesh stopped three people going on a bike allegedly for honking. All three then assaulted one of them after thrashing him on the ground.

The police On Sunday said that the footages of the incident has revealed that the quarrel between these two groups was started by Nitesh and Alok. But in the end, the other party overpowered them and assaulted them. The Delhi Police also said that both, Nitesh and Alok have previous criminal records.

The video shows that as the bike gets disbalanced, the other two also fall on the road and a scuffle ensues between the groups. Since there was no statement by anyone, a case was registered under section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code on DD entry at Ranjit Nagar Police Station. Investigation has been started as reported by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Shweta Chauhan.

After Nitesh, who was hit in head and had been unconscious, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, a section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code was added in the FIR. The police have identified the three accused who are currently absconding.

The police have ruled out any communal angle in the incident but said that the two parties belong to different communities. However as a precautionary measure, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed in the area.

This year, despite the strong buzz surrounding Indian films like Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Putul, Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life, All We Imagine As Light, Band of Maharajas, Kanguva, The Zebras, Girls Will Be Girls, and Santosh, none of them made it to the final list of nominees.
