As per the Gurugram Police, an FIR was registered against Singh under the Indian Penal Code’s Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) on July 7 on the basis of Gurugram resident Amit Arora’s complaint.

Arora, who is a consultant in the aviation sector claimed that Singh had given him a fake depository instruction slip of shares worth Rs 10 lakh for services provided to him. He also revealed that the SpiceJet MD had promised him to transfer 10,00,000 SpiceJet shares for his services.

Following the accusation, SpiceJet issues an official statement and called the complaint completely bogus and mischievous. It also said that the complainant’s intention is to hurt the chairman and the airline.

SpiceJet also said that a defamation case will be filed against the complainant.

SpiceJet malfunction incidents

Last week, a Delhi-Dubai SpiceJet flight was diverted to Karachi due to a malfunctioning fuel indicator. Another malfunction was reported in a SpiceJet flight heading to Chongqing in China. The flight returned to Kolkata as the pilots realised that its weather radar was not working.

Following the incidents, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a show-cause notice to SpiceJet as it reported eight such incidents over the last 18 days.

Odisha health minister shot at by ASI, condition critical; airlifted to Bhubaneshwar

Odisha’s Health Minister Nab Kishore Das was fatally attacked at around 1 pm on Sunday. He was shot at by an ASI on duty. The minister was on his way to attend a programme at Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda district. As soon as Das got down sitting on the front seat of the car, the ASI shot him twice in the chest. Blood-soaked Das fell near the car.

His supporters present at the spot caught him and called an ambulance and rushed him to the hospital. After some time he was airlifted to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where his condition remains critical. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also reached the hospital to meet Das. The crime branch has started investigating the matter.

On the other hand, the police have taken ASI Gopaldas, who fired at the minister, into custody. He is being interrogated, but so far the accused has not given the reason for the attack.

In a serious incident on Sunday near Gandhi chhak near Brajarajnagar in the Jharsuguda district, Odisha Health Minister Naba Das was criticially injured after being shot at by a miscreant. When the incident happened, Naba Das was en route to a programme.

According to reports, Naba Das was shot by unknown gunmen after getting out of his car. Uncertainty persists regarding the firing’s precise cause.

Naba Das was rushed to the hospital right after after the event. Following the firing incident, BJD activists conducted a dharna, which raised tensions at the scene.

Given that the minister was allegedly shot at close range, it is believed that the shooting was pre-planned.

Since Naba Das, who was supposed to attend a large-scale event, also had police escort, the occurrence has called into severe doubt the effectiveness of security measures.

After learning the news over the phone, we are extremely surprised. It’s too soon to identify who is responsible or why it occurred. We ask for God to hasten his healing. Police will conduct a thorough inquiry, and we condemn the incident, said senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya.

However, Brajrajnagar SDOP Gupteswar Bhoi said that it is unclear what prompted the ASI to fire at the Minister. The concerned official has been arrested and is currently being questioned.

The SDPO denied knowing who gave the ASI the order to shoot at the minister when questioned about it. Naba Das, the senior BJD leader and minister of health for Odisha, was shot at earlier and hurt close to Gandhi Chhak in Brajarajnagar.

When the firing incident was reported, the Minister was en route to a programme. Since Naba Das, who was supposed to attend a large-scale event, also had police escort, the occurrence has called into severe doubt the effectiveness of security measures.

Tripura, which was seen as a bastion of the Left parties, saw the BJP in office for the first time in 2018

Papiya Dutta is BJP candidate from Agartala for Tripura elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the name of Papiya Dutta as its candidate for the Agartala assembly seat for the ensuing Tripura elections.

BJP’s Central Election Committee made the announcement on Sunday. This came a day after Congress announced the name of its candidate for Agartala. Congress named Sudip Roy Barman as its candidate for Agartala.

Both parties the BJP and the Congress have announced their candidates for the Tripura assembly polls on Saturday with the state set for a multi-cornered contest in the February 16 election for 60 seats in the state assembly.

Congress announced 17 candidates, while the Bharatiya Janata Party published two lists with 48 and six candidates, respectively. Additionally, the agreement between the BJP and IPFT was confirmed. Five seats are up for election by IPFT.

Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik, a candidate for the BJP, is from Dhanpur. The party has not offered tickets to six of its incumbent MLAs for the 2019 elections.

The MLAs that were refused tickets include Vimmi Majumdar, Subhash Chandra Das, Arun Chandra Bhowmik, Virendra Kishore Dev Burman, Parimal Debbarma, and Viplav Kumar.

The state assembly elections are coming up, and the incumbent chief minister Dr. Manik Saha will run from the Town Bordowali district.

Tripura, which was seen as a bastion of the Left parties, saw the BJP in office for the first time in 2018.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and party chief JP Nadda were among those present at the Bharatiya Janata Party Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on January 27.

The nomination period ends on January 30. The voting will take place on March 2.

Nine states, as well as possibly the Union Territory of J&K, will have assembly elections in 2023. Given that there will be Lok Sabha elections in 2024, these elections are more significant.

The tone and atmosphere of the major conflict will be established by these state polls. For instance, if the BJP loses in several states, it will inspire the opposition and make it clearer whose leaders have the most negotiating leverage to be prime ministerial contenders.
