Tej Pratap’s threat forces Bihar Dy CM Sushil Modi to change son’s wedding venue
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A video showed Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap threatening to disrupt Sushil Modi’s son’s wedding
Citing security concerns following Tej Pratap Yadav’s threat, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi has now changed the marriage venue of his son’s wedding. Days back, Tej Pratap – the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the former Health Minister of the state – had threatened to sabotage the wedding and launch a physical attack on the Deputy CM.
An official statement released by the Deputy CM’s office on Saturday read, “The venue of Sushil Modi’s son Utkarsh-Yamini’s marriage has been changed to Veterinary college ground (near Patna airport) from Shakha Maidan in Rajendra Nagar. The decision to change the venue has been taken for security reasons in view of some leaders making objectionable statements and threatening to disrupt the marriage.”
The statement further mentioned that all invitees have been informed accordingly about the change in the venue.
A video – which surfaced earlier in the week – showed the Tej Pratap Yadav threatening to disrupt Sushil Modi’s son’s wedding –scheduled to take place on December 3.
In the video, the RJD leader was heard saying, “I have been invited by Sushil Modi to attend the wedding of his son. If I go there, I will expose him in public. Uske ghar mein ghus kar maarenge, us shaadi mein vahin sabha karenge, tod phod karenge (I will thrash him inside his house, hold a public meeting at the marriage venue and vandalize things).”
RJD leaders in Bihar were infuriated since Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) broke out of the ‘mahagathbandhan’ (the grand alliance) with RJD earlier this year – in the pretext of corruption charges leveled by the CBI against Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family. To add more discontent for the RJD, Lalu’s son Tejaswi Yadav was too removed from the post of the Deputy CM – which was later replaced with BJP’s Sushil Modi.
Though the JDU broke alliance with the RJD and got into friendly ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA government, Tej Pratap’s threat and Sushil Modi’s back foot action on the same makes it evident that the ruling alliance and its leaders are still cornered by the purportedly dominant RJD leaders.
Soon after Tej Pratap’s threatening video got circulated through the local news channels, Sushil Modi – being “worried that Tej Pratap’s provocative speech may lead to some untoward incident on the day of the wedding” – had requested Lalu Yadav to intervene.
Also condemning the statement, JD(U) ally BJP had further assured to ensure disciplinary action against the RJD leader for his “reckless utterances”. Anil Sahni – BJP leader from Bihar – had further announced a “reward” of Rs 1 crore to anyone who slaps Tej Pratap.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
