[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday, May 19 warned of thunderstorm with strong winds and rain in most parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
“Thunderstorm with rain would occur over many places of Delhi and Mahendragarh, Kosli, Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Noida and Greater Noida by evening,” the IMD said.
People have been advised to stay indoors if possible. Strong winds exceeding 80 kilometres per hour will also accompany the thunderstorm in the next few hours.
However, it was a sunny day in the national capital with the minimum and maximum temperatures settling at normal levels even as the forecast suggested light rains and thunderstorm during the night.
On Friday, the Met department forecast that the southwest monsoon would hit the Kerala coast on May 29, three days before its normal onset date. It said conditions were favourable for the onset of monsoon over the Andaman Sea and southeast Bay of Bengal from May 23. “The southwest monsoon is expected to set over Kerala on May 29 with a modelled error of plus or minus four days,” the IMD said. The normal onset date for the monsoon to hit Kerala is June 1. The event marks the start of the rainy season over the region and as the monsoon progresses northward, relief from scorching summer temperatures is experienced over the areas.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526732684836{border-top-width: 10px !important;border-right-width: 10px !important;border-bottom-width: 10px !important;border-left-width: 10px !important;padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;border-radius: 10px !important;}”]IMD warning for May 19:
