The Twitter is divided between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress slamming each other over the alleged disrespect of a temple of the Matua community in West Bengal.
The fight is over the Thakurbari temple, the holy place of worship of the Matua community. The TMC alleges that the BJP disrespected the sanctity of the temple for the sake of politics.
TMC said the security staff of Union Minister Shantanu Thakur entered the shrine premises with their shoes on and ill-treated women.
TMC national General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee sharing some visuals on Twitter called it a shameful act of power and alleged, Thakur’s security stormed into the temple wearing shoes and manhandled women devotees.
TMC Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh also wrote on Twitter claiming women devotees who were present to offer their prayers at the Thakurbari temple have testified that it was CISF on Minister Thakur’s orders, which created a ruckus inside the temple complex.
Ghosh alleged, the CISF personnel with their shoes on, barged inside the temple, disrespected women, snatched their jewelry and used abusive languages.
Ghosh backing the Matua community said, it is a slap to their face by the BJP.
TMC also shared a video of a woman, claiming it to be a worker of its party saying Ila Bagchi, the worker was brutally attacked by the goons of BJP and were they instructed to do so by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Minister Thakur, a powerful leader from the Matua community responding to the allegations taking a jibe at TMC said, he was suprised to see the goons themselves expressing sadness over the attack. Thakur expressing his disappointment towards the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal said his community is being cowardly targeted and said the people of the Matua community are well aware of 6the fact of how much love and respect they receive from CM Banerjee and his nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
Thakur added, saying Mamata has been continuously disrespecting the community as she did in the past by consciously mispronouncing the names of Harichand Thakur and Guruchand Thakur.
Shantanu Thakur is a BJP MP from West Bengal’s Bangaon, currently serving as the Union Minister of state of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The Matua community is an electorally significant community in the state, which is being approached by both the BJP and TMC.
