PM Modi is an anaconda says Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu

Published

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Passing unwanted comments and unparliamentarily languages against one another is not a new thing among politicians but when one compares the PM of the nation to an anaconda then it creates a big question on the moral behavior of the person. And unfortunately Andhra Pradesh’s Finance Minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu has done the same as he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi an anaconda.

“Who can be a bigger anaconda than Narendra Modi?” Krishnudu asked. Further adding on to the matter he accused the prime minister of having “swallowed all institutions” in the country. “He is swallowing up institutions like the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Reserve Bank of India,”

“Every Tom, Dick and Harry is speaking of past politics. Past can’t be present or future. But present and future will become past. The critics of TDP (Telugu Desam Party) should understand this. TDP was not established against any single party. It was founded against the system,” he said in another comment while reporting to media.

And this is not the first time that any leader is using such kind of language for the PM Modi, earlier also many ministers have done this.

This morning (November 4), Shashi Tharoor took a dig at PM Modi and called him “a hero on a white stallion with an upraised sword in his hand”.

And Shashi Tharoor keeps on passing such comments time and again. This was not the first time for Tharoor , as on October 28, he quoted an “unnamed RSS source” who in 2012 had said “PM Modi is a scorpion siting on a Shiva Linga. It can’t be removed with ones hand nor can it be hit with a slipper”.

Not only Tharoor and Krishnudu but other leaders have also passed such statements and the list contains many more names.

Recently, a Congress MLA in Maharashtra had called Modi a “dengue mosquito” who should be “removed using pesticides”.

Rajiv Kumar’s tenure ends, new CEC to be announced soon

Rajiv Kumar’s tenure as CEC ends, and the process to select a new Chief Election Commissioner begins. What challenges and responsibilities await the next head of India’s Election Commission?

Published

Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India, stepping down after his tenure ends.

Rajiv Kumar’s tenure as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India is officially coming to an end, and the process of selecting his successor is about to begin. According to sources, the selection panel, which will include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, is expected to meet soon, possibly by Monday.

The new CEC will be responsible for overseeing crucial elections, including those in Bihar later this year, and the general elections in states like Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Kerala in the coming years.

A turbulent tenure for Rajiv Kumar

Kumar’s time as CEC, since his appointment in May 2022, has not been without controversy. During his tenure, opposition parties, particularly Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), repeatedly raised concerns about the Election Commission’s impartiality. Allegations of bias towards the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were frequently made, especially ahead of critical elections like the Delhi assembly election.

The most vocal of critics was AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who, just before the Delhi election, accused the Election Commission of “surrendering before the BJP.” Despite these claims, Kumar dismissed the charges, asserting that the Election Commission operated in an unbiased manner, with robust systems in place to prevent fraud.

Key moments under Rajiv Kumar’s leadership

Under Rajiv Kumar’s leadership, several high-profile elections were conducted. He oversaw the 2022 Lok Sabha election, Jammu and Kashmir’s first assembly poll in over a decade, as well as multiple state elections, including in Karnataka, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Each of these polls saw both major political parties – Congress and BJP – emerge victorious in different states.

Kumar also presided over the 2022 and 2023 presidential elections, a key responsibility for the Election Commission. Despite the controversies that marked his tenure, he confidently asserted the integrity of the election process, particularly regarding the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs), which he defended against claims of manipulation.

Plans after retirement

In January, when announcing the dates for the Delhi elections, Kumar humorously mentioned his plans to “detoxify” himself after retirement by spending several months in solitude in the Himalayas. A 1984-batch IAS officer from the Bihar/Jharkhand cadre, Kumar also expressed his desire to give back to society by teaching underprivileged children.

The road ahead: Selection of the next CEC

The selection of the next CEC comes at a pivotal time, as the Election Commission prepares for several major elections in the coming years. The process will begin a day before the Supreme Court hears petitions challenging a new law regarding the selection of the CEC and other Election Commissioners. Critics argue that this law gives the central government too much control over the process.

As Rajiv Kumar steps down, the search for a new Chief Election Commissioner will soon be underway. The chosen successor will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of India’s elections and maintaining the trust of the public in the democratic process.

Atishi claims she has received several complaints of power cuts in Delhi after BJP won elections

Atishi also noted that residents have started purchasing inverters to cope with the frequent power disruptions.

Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Thursday raised concerns over frequent power cuts in the national capital, alleging that the situation has worsened since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a historic victory in the recent assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader claimed that over 40 power outages were reported across Delhi within just three days of AAP’s ouster from power.

Atishi accused the BJP of lacking the capability to govern effectively, warning that Delhi could face prolonged power outages similar to those in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh. “In the last three days, I have received several complaints about power cuts in Delhi. Does this indicate the collapse of the power sector within just three days? It clearly shows that under Arvind Kejriwal’s government, the AAP administration was closely monitoring and supervising the electricity infrastructure on a day-to-day basis,” she said.

She further added, “Now, as soon as AAP’s government has been removed, governance has failed, and the power sector has collapsed within just three days.” Atishi also noted that residents have started purchasing inverters to cope with the frequent power disruptions.

The BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi assembly elections marked a significant political shift, ending AAP’s decade-long rule in the capital. The party secured a two-thirds majority, winning 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP’s tally dropped drastically from 62 to 22 seats.

Despite its decisive mandate, the BJP has yet to form a government in Delhi. Several names are being speculated for the chief minister’s post, including Parvesh Verma, who defeated former CM Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, as well as Shalimar Bagh MLA Rekha Gupta, Shikha Roy (Greater Kailash), Vijender Gupta (Rohini), Satish Upadhyay (Malviya Nagar), Ashish Sood (Janakpuri), Pawan Sharma (Uttam Nagar), Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar), and Abhay Verma (Laxmi Nagar), among others.

Atishi’s allegations come at a time when the BJP is preparing to take charge of Delhi’s administration after a 27-year hiatus. Her remarks highlight the growing tensions between the outgoing AAP government and the incoming BJP administration, with the former warning of potential governance challenges under the new regime.

As Delhi transitions to a BJP-led government, the issue of power supply and infrastructure management is likely to remain a focal point of political debate, with both parties vying to prove their capability to address the city’s needs effectively.

Gaurav Gogoi hits back after Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma accuses Congress leader’s wife of having links with ISI

“The nation deserves transparency and truth,” he added.

Congress leader and Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi has strongly refuted allegations made by the BJP and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who accused his British wife, Elizabeth Colburn, of having links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Gogoi dismissed the claims as “laughable” and countered with a sharp retort, saying, “If my wife is an ISI agent of Pakistan, then I am a R&AW agent of India.”

Speaking to news agency ANI, Gogoi criticized the BJP for resorting to baseless allegations, accusing the party of conducting a smear campaign against him and his family. “I don’t mind if a family against whom there are various cases and several allegations makes accusations against me. The Assam chief minister is making these allegations only to divert attention from the allegations against him,” he said.

Gogoi pointed out that similar allegations were levelled against him before last year’s Lok Sabha elections, but the people of the Jorhat parliamentary constituency responded by electing him. “The BJP has no issue and resorts to these baseless allegations. It conducted the same smear campaign against me and my family before the Lok Sabha polls last year, and the people of Jorhat parliamentary constituency replied (to it) by electing me,” he stated.

He also suggested that Chief Minister Himanta Sarma’s accusations stem from fear of losing his position, as the BJP appears to be on shaky ground ahead of the Assam assembly elections, which are still a year away. “Fearing that he might lose his chair, he is trying to divert attention by launching a smear campaign against me and my family… The assembly election is still a year away, but it seems that the BJP is on a shaky ground with people losing faith in the party due to which it has launched this attack on me,” Gogoi said.

The controversy began when BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia and Himanta Sarma accused Gogoi’s wife of having ties with Pakistan and the ISI, demanding clarification from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Gogoi himself. Bhatia described the matter as a national security concern, stating, “Elizabeth Colburn, the wife of deputy Leader of Opposition Gaurav Gogoi… her links with Pakistan Planning Commission Advisor Ali Tauqeer Sheikh and the ISI, have been found. This is extremely concerning and related to national security.”

In response, Himanta Sarma launched a fresh attack on Gogoi, referencing his 2015 visit to Pakistan on the invitation of then-Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit. Sarma claimed that after this visit, Gogoi’s parliamentary questions shifted to “sensitive defence matters,” including inquiries about Coast Guard radar installations, India’s arms factories, and trade routes with Iran.

In a detailed post on X, Sarma linked these developments to Gogoi’s marriage to Elizabeth Colburn, alleging that she had worked for an American senator with close ties to the Pakistani establishment and had spent time in Pakistan with an organization believed to be an ISI front. “These developments occurred immediately after his marriage to a British citizen with a professional background that raises further questions,” Sarma wrote.

Sarma also raised concerns about Colburn’s refusal to take Indian citizenship for 12 years and alleged her involvement in a “conversion cartel” and receiving funds from external sources, including George Soros, to destabilize India’s national security. “The nation deserves transparency and truth,” he added.

Gogoi’s rebuttal and the BJP’s allegations have intensified the political slugfest, with both sides trading barbs ahead of the upcoming Assam assembly elections. As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how these accusations will impact the political landscape in Assam and beyond.
