India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday provided a big update on all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s bowling concerns and said he is not fit enough yet to give his 100% while bowling but is slowly getting there.

Sharma came up with an update when he took the field for the toss ahead of India’s warm-up match against Australia since Virat Kohli decided to sit out and take a break.

Hardik Pandya is coming along pretty well but he’s still going to take some time. He has not started bowling yet but in the next few days he starts bowling and he should be ready when the World Cup starts, Sharma said After the toss ahead of the warmup match against Australia.

Pandya has played as a specialist batsman for Mumbai Indians (MI) and also didn’t bowl a single over during India’s warm-up T20 World Cup match against England. He had last bowled during India’s tour of Sri Lanka.

Many former India cricketers, sports journalists and cricket experts have spoken in favour of Pandya’s inclusion in India’s playing XI for the big clash against Pakistan as they think he could be the finisher India needs in the death overs. The sixth bowler option is being looked at, says Rohit Sharma.

Sharma also said India is keen to try a few bowling options to fill the requirement of 6th bowler in team India. In T20Is, it’s the best course of action to have a backup bowler just in case one of the main bowlers has an off day. He made it clear that it is crucial for India to find the right balance in their team so that they have depth in batting and also a sixth bowling option.

Hardik Pandya usually gives the 6th bowling option but if he fails to recover in time to bowl, India might consider bringing in an in-form Ishan Kishan in his place.

Chennai Super Kings crushed Gujarat Titans to secure a victory by 63 runs at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Tuesday. The Gujarat Titans won the toss but nothing seemed to go right for Gujarat Titans as Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team dominated the Gujarat Titans in all departments of the game.

Chennai super Kings captain Rururaj Gaikwad said Shivam Dube has worked on his weakness against the short ball quite well and it has a lot to do with Mahendra Singh Dhoni personally working with the Mumbai batsman. The left handed batsman smashed 5 sixes in his 23 ball half century.

The Gujarat Titans were set to chase a target of 207 by the Chennai Super Kings. The Gujarat Titans were under pressure from the start to score at above 10 an over. The pitch offered even pace and bounce and Gujarat Titans batsmen failed to make a match of it.

Deepak Chahal rattled the Gujarat Titans plans right at the start of the innings. Chahar sent back openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill with only 34 runs on the board. Gujarat Titans skipper was dismissed as he was trapped lbw for 8 runs (5 balls). Gill opted for a review which showed that he did not have any clue about the trajectory and line of the ball as well as his own position in front of the stumps.

But for Sai Sudarshan there was no contribution which could be mentioned. Tushar Deshpande (2/21), Mustafizur Rahman (2/30) and Chahar (2/28) did the job for CSK with the ball. A T20 innings with more dot balls than boundaries and sixes was bound to end up in a losing cause. Chennai Super Kings has moved on the top the table with back to back wins. Rachin Ravindra took charge with a six off a Umesh Yadav length ball and did not stop thereafter as long as he stayed in the middle.
