The much-awaited Mega auction for Indian Premier League 2022 which was rumoured to be held in January, will be held next year in February, the latest report said.

The BCCI is planning to hold the two-day mega auction event on February 7 and 8 in Bengaluru, a senior BCCI official said on Wednesday.

There were also reports that the mega auction will be held in the UAE but as of now, BCCI has no such plans.

As per the Cricket.com latest reports, Bangalore and Hyderabad have emerged as the two frontrunner cities for the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Several reports claimed that the delay in mega auction for the IPL 2022 has taken place because of the discussion on the approval status of the CVC Capital Partners who were dragged under controversy after buying the Ahmedabad franchise.

On the conditions of anonymity, a senior BCCI official told the reporters that unless the Covid-19 situation worsens, India will be hosted the mega IPL auction.
The preparations for the two-day event that will be held on February 7 and 8 are unerway. It will be taking place in Bangalore.

With two new teams- Sanjiv Goenka owned Lucknow and venture capital firm CVC owned Ahemdabad, the IPL 2022 will have have 10 teams.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly reacted after a tense on-field moment involving Khushdil Shah during the third ODI against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui. The incident occurred after a group of Afghan-origin spectators allegedly hurled inappropriate and anti-Pakistan remarks, triggering a furious reaction from the cricketer.

Images and videos circulated online showed Khushdil Shah being restrained by security after charging toward a section of the crowd. The PCB later confirmed that Shah had intervened after hearing provocative chants and abusive language in Pashto.

“When anti-Pakistan slogans emerged, cricketer Khushdil Shah stepped in and urged the spectators to refrain. In response, the Afghan spectators escalated the situation,” the PCB said in an official statement.

Following the Pakistan team’s complaint, two Afghan-origin spectators were ejected from the ground.

Pakistan’s 43-run defeat in the third ODI not only resulted in a 0-3 series whitewash, but also marked the latest chapter in a string of spectator clashes involving Afghan fans. Past Pakistan vs Afghanistan encounters have often witnessed heated exchanges in the stands.
