Internet lashes out at BCCI for not including Sanju Samson in playing XI, Ravi Shastri’s sabko bahar baithao statement goes viral

Sanju Samson

Team India captain Hardik Pandya (for IND vs NZ T20 series) has come under target of his fans for not giving place to Sanju Samson in the playing XI in the second and third T20 match against New Zealand.

India registered a resounding win in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand and Suryakumar Yadav once again proved why is the no.1 T20 batsman. But the third match was declared draw after rain interruption. But Indian cricket fans could not keep their calm as the team management, Coach VVS Lakshman and skipper Hardik Pandya gave Rishabh Pant another chance despite the disappointment but could not include Sanju Samson in the playing XI.

After the failure in the T20 World Cup, under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, the Indian team was playing T20 series against New Zealand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given rest to senior players like Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik.

Despite the victory in the second T20 against New Zealand, captain Hardik Pandya and team coach VVS Laxman were on target and the reason was neglecting Sanju Samson for the entire T20 series.

Pant flopped again in the second and third match, but despite the first disapointment, Rishabh Pant was given a chance as wicketkeeper, who started the innings with Ishaan Kishan. But Sanju Samson who is available and a part of the IND vs NZ squad did not get to play in any of the matches.

Former Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri has also talked about giving a chance to Sanju Samson. Ravi Shastri said, “Give Sanju Samson a chance. Give him 10 matches. It is not that you let him play two matches and then make him sit, make other people sit. Give Sanju Samson 10 matches and then see what he does next.”

For the unversed, Sanju Samson was also not kept in the team of Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022. India tried Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in some matches of T20 World, but their performance was not up to the mark.

On the other hand, Sanju Samson had a great performance in IPL this year. He had scored 458 runs and his strike rate was also 146.79. Samson has so far played 16 T20 international matches for India. He last played against West Indies in August 2022, and since then has been waiting for his turn.

Guwahati weather

The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 encounter between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) has hit a weather hurdle. Scheduled to take place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the toss for Match 13 has been officially delayed due to persistent rain in the city.

Rain intensifies at Barsapara Stadium

The Guwahati weather has taken a turn for the worse as heavy drizzle forced the groundstaff to keep the pitch and square under covers. While the rain had momentarily eased, allowing for a brief inspection, it returned shortly after, frustrating both fans and players. According to media reports, the probability of rain during match hours has surged to nearly 50%, a significant increase from earlier forecasts.

Cut-off time and over reductions

As the clock ticks, the pressure on the match officials increases. Overs were scheduled to start being reduced from 8:40 PM IST. For those hoping for at least a shortened game, the cut-off time for a minimum five-over-a-side contest has been established at 10:56 PM IST. The city remains under a weather alert, with cloud cover expected to be a major factor throughout the evening.

High-stakes encounter on hold

Rajasthan Royals enter this game with a perfect record, having won their first two matches of the season. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, are looking to bounce back after a mixed start. A key highlight of this match is the potential battle between 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the experienced Jasprit Bumrah.

Historically, the two teams share a fierce rivalry, with Mumbai holding a slight edge with 16 wins compared to Rajasthan’s 14 in their 31 previous meetings.
