Domino's world cup offer

Leading fast-food company Domino’s has significantly reduced the cost of its pizza offerings by as much as 50%. In celebration of the on-going ICC Cricket World Cup, this step was taken by the company.

Customers can now enjoy their favourite large vegetarian pizzas for just Rs 499, a significant discount from their previous price of Rs 799. Similarly, non-vegetarian pizza lovers may now get large pizzas for a tempting price of Rs 549, a substantial reduction from the prior price of Rs 919.

During this important sports event, which generally results in a rise in orders, the fast-food company hopes to use this promotion to enhance sales and keep a competitive edge. Domino’s India has launched Everyday Value discounts in addition to the notable discount on large pizzas in order to appeal to a wider customer base. Customers who use the Howzzat50 coupon codes receive a flat 50% discount on pizza.

Undoubtedly, there is a rise in demand for fast food during the World Cup. By executing a well-thought-out price cut, Domino’s India hopes to keep one step ahead of the competition. The competition from other cuisine categories, particularly burgers and biryani, may have prompted this decision.

Additionally, Domino’s has seen some stability in the price of crucial inputs like dairy and cheese, allowing the business to pass these benefits on to its clients.

By launching 23 new locations and moving into a new city, Domino’s India has increased its footprint and now has 1,838 locations spread over 394 cities. Furthermore, the business opened four new Popeyes restaurants and made its debut in Manipal and Coimbatore, giving them a total of 17 locations across four cities.

The pizza sector is under fierce competition, and its development potential may not be immediately apparent, according to Karan Taurani, senior vice president and research analyst at Elara Capital, on September 27. Reviewing market share statistics from the last three to four years demonstrates that the pizza industry’s standing within the larger quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain sector has decreased.

England’s World Cup dream ends as Thomas Tuchel’s defensive gamble backfires against Argentina

England’s World Cup campaign ended in heartbreak as Argentina scored twice late to win 2-1 after Thomas Tuchel’s defensive tactical changes shifted momentum.

England’s hopes of reaching the FIFA World Cup 2026 final ended in heartbreaking fashion after Argentina produced a late comeback to claim a 2-1 victory in the semi-final in Atlanta. While the Three Lions looked in control for much of the contest, their increasingly defensive approach after taking the lead proved costly.

Cagey first half offers few clear chances

The opening 45 minutes were dominated by physical battles and disciplined defending, leaving both teams with limited opportunities in front of goal. According to Opta, England registered an expected goals (xG) value of 0.05 in the first half, while Argentina managed just 0.03.

Despite the lack of attacking moments, England remained organised and frustrated the defending champions throughout the opening period.

Gordon breaks the deadlock

England finally found the breakthrough in the 55th minute when Anthony Gordon met a well-delivered cross from Morgan Rogers to put his side 1-0 ahead. The goal sparked celebrations among England supporters and appeared to put Thomas Tuchel’s side on course for a place in the World Cup final.

Argentina initially struggled to respond. With central defenders Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero both carrying yellow cards, the South American side had to remain cautious in defence, limiting their ability to challenge England’s attackers aggressively.

Defensive substitutions shift momentum

Instead of pushing for a second goal, England gradually retreated deeper into their own half.

In the 72nd minute, head coach Thomas Tuchel replaced goalscorer Anthony Gordon with defender Ezri Konsa, effectively switching to a back-five system. The tactical change reduced England’s attacking threat and allowed Argentina to dominate possession.

Tuchel made two more defensive-minded substitutions in the 82nd minute, bringing on Dan Burn and Nico O’Reilly for Reece James and Declan Rice. The changes further reinforced England’s defensive setup as Argentina continued to press for an equaliser.

Argentina capitalise late

Argentina’s persistence paid off in the 85th minute. Lionel Messi played a short corner to Enzo Fernandez, who found space outside the penalty area before firing a powerful shot beyond Jordan Pickford to make it 1-1.

With momentum firmly on their side, Argentina continued to attack during stoppage time. In the second minute of added time, Messi collected a loose ball on the right wing and delivered a precise cross into the six-yard box. Lautaro Martinez capitalised on defensive hesitation to score the winning goal and send Argentina into the final.

According to Opta, England had just 12% possession between Gordon’s opening goal in the 55th minute and Martinez’s decisive strike in stoppage time, underlining Argentina’s sustained control during the closing stages.

Harry Kane reflects on defeat

England captain Harry Kane admitted his side became overly defensive after taking the lead.

“Once we went 1-0 up, we seemed to just try and hold on, which at this level is not enough.”

His comments echoed the disappointment surrounding England’s inability to maintain their attacking intent after moving ahead.

Argentina set up final against Spain

With the victory, Argentina advanced to the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, where they will face Spain in the tournament’s title clash.

England, meanwhile, are left to reflect on another painful World Cup exit after surrendering a winning position in the closing minutes of a match that had once appeared firmly within their control.

Shreyas Iyer calls India’s T20I struggles a transition phase after England seal series

Shreyas Iyer admitted India failed in execution after England’s nine-wicket victory sealed the T20I series, describing the current squad as one in transition.

England clinched the T20I series against India with a convincing nine-wicket victory, leaving India captain Shreyas Iyer disappointed with his team’s overall performance despite scoring an unbeaten 80.

India posted 158 for 7 after Iyer anchored the innings with the highest score. However, England made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 13.5 overs to take an unassailable lead in the series.

Iyer rues poor execution across departments

Following the defeat, Iyer admitted India failed to execute their plans with both bat and ball.

He said 158 was not an ideal total on the board and acknowledged that England’s rapid chase reflected India’s shortcomings. According to the skipper, the bowlers were instructed to repeatedly target a difficult length around the top of middle and leg stump, but the team failed to execute those plans consistently.

Although satisfied with his personal contribution, Iyer said individual performances hold little value when the team ends up on the losing side.

He added that his priority is always to contribute to victories and expressed hope of bouncing back in the next match.

‘This is a transition phase,’ says India captain

Iyer described the current Indian side as a team in transition and stressed that mistakes are part of the learning process.

He said the players need to understand the importance of adapting quickly and expressed confidence that the squad has enough quick learners who will assess their performances and improve from the experience.

Harry Brook praises England’s adaptability

England captain Harry Brook credited his team’s success to its ability to adjust to the conditions and the communication between the players and coaching staff.

Brook said the team had enjoyed the contest and was delighted to secure the series against India. He identified adaptability and strong communication as the two biggest reasons behind England’s dominant performances.

The England skipper also praised fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue for once again making an early impact with the ball before expressing his ambition of seeing England rise to the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20I rankings.

England now have the opportunity to complete a 4-0 series sweep in Southampton on Saturday, a result that would also see them replace reigning world champions India at the top of the T20I rankings.

Kylian Mbappe becomes first player to score 20 World Cup goals before turning 30

Kylian Mbappe became the first player to score 20 FIFA World Cup goals before turning 30 as France defeated Morocco 2-0 to reach the 2026 World Cup semi-finals.

France captain Kylian Mbappe etched his name into FIFA World Cup history after becoming the first footballer to score 20 World Cup goals before the age of 30 during France’s 2-0 quarter-final victory over Morocco in Boston.

Mbappe broke the deadlock in the second half with his eighth goal of the ongoing tournament. The strike also saw him draw level with Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot while reaching a milestone never previously achieved in World Cup history.

According to the available records, Messi is the only other player to have reached the 20-goal mark at the FIFA World Cup, having scored 21 goals in the competition.

Mbappe recovers after first-half penalty miss

The France skipper had an opportunity to score earlier in the match after winning a penalty following a challenge from Noussair Mazraoui. However, Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou denied him from the spot.

The penalty award sparked debate as television replays appeared to indicate that Mbappe had gone to ground before any contact from Mazraoui.

Despite the setback, Mbappe responded in the second half by opening the scoring and later set up France’s second goal, which was finished by reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele.

France march into World Cup semi-finals

Mbappe was substituted in the 76th minute after appearing to experience some discomfort, with head coach Didier Deschamps deciding not to take any risks.

France’s victory sends Les Bleus into the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals, where they will take on either Spain or Belgium in Dallas next Tuesday.

The 2018 world champions and 2022 runners-up remain on course for a third successive World Cup final under Deschamps, who is overseeing his final World Cup campaign as France coach.

Morocco, playing without injured Ismael Saibari, struggled to create enough attacking opportunities as France controlled the contest to seal another place in the last four.

Mbappe once again underlined his reputation as one of football’s leading goal-scorers, adding another historic achievement to his World Cup career.
