Amazon launches new, cheaper Prime Video Mobile edition | Everything you need to know

Amazon just unveiled a new mobile-only Prime Video service. The single-user plan, known as Prime Video Mobile Edition, will only be offered on mobile devices and would cost Rs 599 per year.

Last year, Amazon Prime Video for mobile was launched in collaboration with Bharti Airtel, but it was only available to subscribers of the telecom network. Users may access SD-quality Amazon Prime videos with the plan, which costs Rs 89 per month.

How much will it cost?

But regardless of the user’s mobile network, the new Amazon Prime Video Mobile edition is accessible. It provides Standard Definition (SD) access to all of the platform’s content. You must subscribe to Amazon Prime’s regular package, which costs Rs 179 per month or Rs 1499 per year, if you wish to see videos in High Definition.

What features will Amazon Prime Video for Mobile have?

Along with watching live cricket events and Amazon original content, users can take vew of all Prime Video features including X-ray powered by IMDb and the ability to download shows for offline viewing. It appears that Amazon wants to compete with the mobile plans offered by Netflix and Disney+Hotstar.

Netflix’s mobile service is priced at Rs 149 per month, Amazon Prime Video mobile costs Rs 50 per month, and Disney+Hotstar mobile costs Rs 41 per month or Rs 499 per year.

Visitors to PrimeVideo.com or the Android or iOS apps can join up for the Amazon Prime Mobile version plan. Additionally, consumers can upgrade to different plans in the future through Amazon.

Vice President, Prime Video India, Gaurav Gandhi said that the company has witnessed significant growth in India over the past six years. The service has grown to be the go-to source for premium content with viewers from 99% of the country’s pin codes. The comapny is thrilled to introduce the annual plan for Prime Video Mobile Edition, which is in line with their commitment to increase access to high quality entertainment. Building on that success, we are now expanding its access by making it directly accessible for subscription through Prime Video’s app and website, he added.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE may skip chip upgrade, could reuse Exynos 2400e

Samsung’s next Fan Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S25 FE, is likely to feature the same Exynos 2400e processor as last year’s model, according to new leaks.

Samsung appears to be following a conservative route for its upcoming Galaxy S25 FE, with reports suggesting that the smartphone will feature the same Exynos 2400e chipset used in last year’s Galaxy S24 FE. While the tech giant has not officially confirmed the device’s launch, leaks hint that the handset—codenamed R13—is already under development.

According to internal code seen by the media, the Galaxy S25 FE carries the codename siop_r13s_s5e9945, confirming its chipset as Exynos 2400/2400e. This is the same processor seen in the Galaxy S24 FE, indicating that Samsung may skip a processor upgrade this year.

If accurate, this decision places the S25 FE behind newer premium chipsets like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and MediaTek Dimensity 9400, potentially making the device less powerful in comparison to flagship competitors in 2025.

The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to launch towards the end of Q3 or early Q4 2025, as a more affordable variant of the Galaxy S25 series. Much like its predecessor, it will likely aim to strike a balance between performance and price, appealing to cost-conscious consumers.

Last year’s Galaxy S24 FE, launched in September 2024, came at a price of Rs. 59,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model. It featured a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 50MP triple rear camera, 10MP selfie camera, 4700mAh battery, and support for Galaxy AI features. If Samsung follows suit, the S25 FE could retain many of these specifications, making only minor hardware or software tweaks.

The report also mentions that the Indian variant of the Galaxy M36 5G may be powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset, the same one used in the Galaxy M35 5G. This suggests Samsung might be keeping things uniform across its mid-range portfolio for 2025.

One of the notable upgrades could be the inclusion of a 7,300mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging support, which would be a significant step up in battery capacity and charging speed for the segment.
