A club in South Delhi’s South Extension area has been the scene of two major assaults in the last one week. On Saturday, a woman lodged a complaint against the bouncers of the club in the South Extension Part-1 area for allegedly hitting, misbehaving, and assaulting them.
According to the police, the woman alleged that a group of bouncers thrashed her and her friends at a club at the Da Code when they had an argument over entry at 12:02 am. The woman in the complaint said the club bouncers did not let the victim and her friends enter the club, after which they had a huge argument. She alleged that the bouncers tore off part of her clothes and touched her inappropriately.
The police said they reached the spot immediately when they received the call. On reaching the club, the police detained seven people.
Another similar incident took place on September 18 at around 2:14 am at the same club when the woman filed a complaint against the bouncers for allegedly mistreating a woman over entry to the club.
The woman said that she had come to the club with her friends for a party where they too had an argument over entry to the club with the bouncers, after which the latter misbehaved and thrashed her and her friends.
Chandan Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said the victim in a complaint alleged that the two bouncers and the manager of the club tore her clothes. He said when the police reached the spot, they found that the woman’s clothes were messed up and disordered.
The police filed a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323, 353 (A), 354 (B), 509, and 34. The case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
The woman has been shifted to AIIMS hospital for treatment.
The CCTV footage from the club and other nearby showrooms was analyzed during the investigation. Additionally, the bouncers’ contact data was also taken from the club, and authorities stated they are working to arrest the real culprits. According to the police, the woman’s statement was recorded before the magistrate at Saket court.
On finding the real identities of the accused persons, it was found that in 2019 an FIR was registered under the IPC and the Delhi Excise Act against the bar owner, his son and other staff of the same club. A senior police official said they had assaulted excise officials in 2019 who had come to the club.
