According to reports, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot may soon deliver a significant blow to the Congress by launching his own party in Rajasthan just before polls in the state.

Sachin Pilot has made headlines for weeks by staying firm on his demand for action against alleged corruption during the previous Vasundhara Raje government and embarrassing his own party. He alleged that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had not taken any action against Vasundhara Raje because of a pact with the BJP leader, a charge that the BJP has strongly refuted.

The reports claim that Pilot is not happy with the outcome of his meeting last week with CM Gehlot, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi as it did not resolve the ‘core issues’.

Since the Congress party made government in Rajasthan in 2018, Ashok Gehlot and the former Chief Minister have been engaged in a power tussle, and the party is seeking to maintain peace between the two ahead of the assembly elections in the state.

There is intense speculation that on June 11, his father’s death anniversary, Sachin Pilot may indicate his way forward. Leaders close to Pilot said he has taken a ‘principled position,” and it is not about posts. His top priorities are corruption and the issue of paper leaks.

Pilot’s three demands are to probe corruption charges during the Vasundhara Raje regime, disband the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, and compensate those affected by government job exam paper leak cases.

Murari Lal Meena, Minister of State for Agriculture and Marketing, is supervising the preparation of the program marking Rajesh Pilot’s death anniversary.

Last Thursday, Congress said that the party is supreme and that they will fight the Rajasthan Assembly polls unitedly.

However, the state minister, Murari Lal Meena, who is also closed to Pilot has denied the speculation of formation of a new party saying that he does not see any substance of such speculation and works following the ideology of the party.
