In a major accident, three people, including a 12-year-old boy, were crushed to death after two bikes collided in Mecheri in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district on Sunday. According to the reports, when the bike hit each other, the boy and the woman fell on the road and were crushed by an SUV that was coming from behind.

Annapoorani, her husband Moorthy and their son were returning home from a temple in Mettur when the bike coming in the opposite direction rammed Moorthy’s bike near Kullamudaiyanur and they fell on the road. Soon the SUV came behind Moorthy’s bike and ran over Annapoorani and her son.

The 40-year-old Annapoorani and her son M Mythish died on the spot while Moorthy escaped with injuries. Another bike driver S Rajendra, 60, was immediately rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.

Annapoorani and M Mythish were the resident of Pannapatty near Omalur and S Rajendran was the resident of Mettur.

Earlier, a six-month-old baby was crushed to death after a bike fell on the road on the Pune-Nashik highway. The bike carrying the baby slipped on the road while trying to overtake the tractor. The mother, who was riding on the back of the bike, was holding her six-month-old baby when the child fell to the ground and died on the spot. The mishap was reported from Maharashtra’s Rajgurunagar area.

17-year-old Chennai footballer dies due to medical negligence, doctors suspended

A 17-year-old footballer died in Chennai today allegedly due to medical negligence. The incident happened after she underwent surgery at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai for a ligament tear on her right leg.

According to the reports, Priya underwent arthroscopic surgery at the Periyar Government Peripheral Hospital on November 7 where she was transferred to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. However, after her family shifted her to RGGGH then they got to know the surgery at the first hospital had gone wrong. So, the doctors at RGGGH said she had to undergo amputation.

On Monday, the doctors performed another surgery to remove tissue and since then she had been in an unconscious state. The family said Priya woke up and met her brother and mother in the ICU but died at 7:15 am due to multi-organ failure.

Family members and friends of the football player halted the van in front of the mortuary at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital and demanded the doctors’ arrest for allegedly performing a botched surgery.

Two doctors at a government hospital have been suspended and the police are investigating the case. Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam assured that legal action would be taken against the doctors.

Minister Subramaniam said It’s an irreparable loss. The surgery was fine but the compression bandage was put so tight that it stopped blood circulation. We’ve also initiated a police investigation and suspended two doctors.

State’s BJP chief Annamalai also expressed condolences on her demise. He said he is shocked to know footballer Priya died during the wrong treatment. He said he expresses his condolences to the family.

Slamming the DMK-led government, the BJP chief said the government should provide a government job for the family member and grant a solatium of Rs 2 crore. He said every department is destroyed in this DMK regime in disappointing that the medical department has joined that list.

The ruling DMK government has also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family.

At least 5 killed in fire at fireworks godown in Tamil Nadu's Madurai, rescue operation underway

At least five people were killed in a fire at a fireworks godown in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai. The incident happened at Thirumangalam in the Madurai district on Thursday.

According to the reports, the locals informed the police about the incident. Police officials, along with two fire tenders rushed to the spot immediately to douse the fire.

The senior police officer from the Sindupatty police station said the cause of the fire is yet to be known, however, prima facie states it to be an accidental fire.

Another official said the death toll may increase as the chances of more bodies being trapped inside the debris are higher. He said the debris is being cleared as they have heard that many bodies are dismembered. Identification of the deceased are difficult, he said.

The police said the investigation is currently underway.

Earlier today, eight Indians among ten people were killed after a fire broke out in a garage in the Maldives. The fire broke out in the M. Nirufehi area near the Maaveyo Mosque around 12:30 am, however, the cause of the fire is not known.

Earlier last month, a major fire broke out at an Amazon storage facility in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. Several products, including, laptops, batteries and phones worth nearly Rs 6 lakh stored in the facility at the time of the accident, as well as office furniture, were destroyed in the fire.

A shocking video has surfaced from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, in which some rowdy boys are seen chasing and beating up a man in front of a women’s college.

The incident happened on November 2, after the video of which has now gone viral, the police have arrested 6 people in this case.

According to the information received, this incident happened near Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women located in Madurai. Here P Senthamil Pandian, a 50-year-old man from  Aruldosspuram, had come to take his daughter home from college. These youth had allegedly barged in the college and were teasing girl students.

According to police reports, at around 3:30 pm, on October 30, when the girls were leaving the college, a funeral procession was taking place near the college gate. When the girls passed from there, many youth started dancing and singing and even eve-teased many of them. When Senthamilan interrupted these youth, some of them beat him up and pushed him away.

After the video of this case surfaced, the police administration was surrounded by questions. Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson SG Surya hit out at the DMK government in the state, terming the incident as ‘horrific’.

He tweeted, that as we say time and again MK Stalin is the weakest CM of Tamil Nadu ever. Law and order has collapsed as he neither inspires nor is vigilant against miscreants, Suryah tweets.

At the same time, the Commissioner of Police of Madurai said that so far 6 people have been arrested in the incident. A case has been registered against the woman under sections 341, 308, 506 (ii) and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.

In a recent incident that happened in the national capital was men climbing over the walls to get into Miranda House College during an open fest. What followed was horrible. Cat-calling, groping, sexist sloganeering and more.
