The Kannappa cast, which stars Mukesh Kumar Singh as Vishnu Manchu, is getting bigger. The recent actor to be picked in the mythological fantasy drama about the titular devotee of Lord Shiva is actor Akshay Kumar. The film will also mark his Tollywood debut.
Taking to social media X, Industry tracker Ramesh Bala announced that Akshay Kumar has been ropped in to play a significant role in Kannappa.
As Vishnu Vijaya, Akshay appeared in the 1993 bilingual film Ashaant, which was released in Kannada. It was his debut South Indian movie. Years later, he made his Tamil film debut in Shankar’s Rajinikanth-starring film 2.0, which was released in 2018. Kannappa will his third South Indian project.
Kannappa boasts a steller cast list full of celebrities from a various industries. In addition to Vishnu and his father, actor Mohan Babu, Madhoo, Sarathkumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Brahmanandam, Mukesh Rishi, Kaushal Manda, and Madhoo will be seen in the film in major roles. In addition to Sheldon Chau’s cinematography and Anthony’s editing, the movie will have music by Mani Sharma and Stephen Devassy.
Vishnu’s dream project, Kannappa, is being produced by Mohan under the banners of AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. Based on a story developed by Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Eshwar Reddy, G Nageswara Reddy, and Thota Prasad, he wrote the film’s screenplay. The film, which was shot in Telugu, would include Hindi and other South Indian dubbings.
The makers of the film initally picked Kajal Aggarwal and Nupur Sanon to portray the female roles, but they eventually withdrew for a various reasons, so Preity Mukhundhan was choosen as their replacement. The fil has been shot in Hyderabad and New Zealand so far.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is greaing up for his upcoming film Bade Miya Chote Miya, starring Tiger Shroff as co-lead. The film is all set to hit the theatres on April 10, on the ocasssion of Eid.
