Delay in Delhi Metro blue line services

Services on a section of the Blue Line of the Delhi metro have been disrupted since 8 am today. The Blue Line, which connects Dwarka Sec 21 in Delhi and Noida Electronic City in Noida/Vaishali in Ghaziabad, has been running slowly since the morning, creating a problem for commuters.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday tweeted that there was a delay in the services from Indraprastha to Yamuna Bank. At first, people assumed it was a technical issue, but now DMRC has posted a series of tweets informing commuters that the delay in metro service is due to cable theft.

In a tweet, DMRC said that the train services are affected between the Indraprastha and Yamuna Bank stations on the Blue Line since this morning because of a suspected case of cable theft on this section of the Down Line which goes towards Vaishali/Noida Electronic City.

DMRC said that the restoration work will be completed at night because it will take around 3 hours to identify the exact location of the theft. In another tweet, DMRC said that the restoration work on this stretch will be completed only during the night hours on July 19th, 2022, after the closure of revenue services since “access to track” will be necessary for up to 3 hours to identify the exact location of the theft and carry out necessary replacement work.

DMRC has also informed that the trains between these two stations will run slowly. This has resulted in a track circuit drop (signaling issue) in this section, restricting the trains to move in manual mode with a limited speed of up to 25 kmph only. Because of this issue, there will be a minor bunching of trains between these two stations, informed DMRC in a third tweet.
