Both in the movies and in real life, Sushmita Sen is an amazing individual. In Farah Khan’s first film as a director, Main Hoon Na, she portrayed the part of Ms. Chandni, and her evident charisma generated excitement across the country. Her sultry on-screen chemistry with Shah Rukh Khan, her signature red chiffon sari, and her graceful portrayal of a college chemistry professor have all earned her cult status, iconic status, and widespread acclaim throughout time.

Sushmita Sen recently shared some intriguing thoughts during a discussion of her performance in the movie Main Hoon Na.

Sushmita Sen described her role as Ms Chandni in Main Hoon Na as being small but powerful enough, in an interview. The actor also revealed that Farah Khan had expressed regret to her following the film’s final edit. Farah said to Sen, Sush, I have seen the final edit, and I have to apologise to you.

Sen further continued and said that Farah told her, she was barely there; Shah Rukh of course has a role, and Zayed, and Amrita all have parts to play. Therefore, I said, that is okay Farah, we had a deal, you kept your end of the deal, and I kept mine. Don’t stress about it now that it is finished.

Sushmita recalled she was, however, internally thinking, Oh no, I am barely there! On the day of the film’s screening at Film City, her phone began to ring, the actor said. The entire spectrum of the industry is calling, therefore I’m not sure why Yash ji (Yash Chopra) is calling me. I take up the phone, being frightened, Sushmita said.

Not only this, the entire industry was praising her role, everyone wanted to see her in every frame. However, the actor did not attend the screening of Main Hoon Na because she that that she is barely there in the film and she would feel bad watching it.

Sen continued, she could tell something had changed from the response. Even though the role was still small, it was nevertheless effective. The audience’s response was so strong that only Shah Rukh, Amrita Rao, and Zayed Khan were featured on the first Main Hoon Na posters that were put up across Bombay. After the movie came out, Shah Rukh and I were on every poster by Saturday.

The former Miss Universe said, she has a great deal of respect for the audience’s and people’s power because they were saying, they want her, we want to see her up there with Shah Rukh Khan. She said, that day Farah called and informed her that all the posters had been taken down and that new ones had been placed up. Farah told her that she ought to take a drive today and she did and saw the changes.
