The online education technology company Unacademy has fired a teacher named Karan Sangwan for urging students to support educated candidates. According to the ed-tech company, the classroom is not the appropriate setting for students to express their own beliefs and viewpoints. Academics, politicians, and internet users began urging everyone to uninstall the ed-tech company’s mobile application shortly after the corporation took action.
His video has created a stir on social media, people are taking to their social media handles and are tweeting and urging to uninstall unacademy. Over 96,000 people have uninstalled the app after this matter came to light.
Co-founder of Unacademy Roman Saini posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying, they are an education platform that is genuinely committed to giving an excellent education. He also said, to ensure that their students have access to fair knowledge, they have put in place a stringent Code of Conduct for all of their educators.
The co-founder also said, everything they do is centred on their students. Personal thoughts and opinions should not be discussed in class because they may inadvertently impact the students. As a result of Karan Sangwan’s violation of the Code of Conduct, we were obliged to split ways with him under the current circumstance, he continued.
In another tweet about the subject, Saini stated that Unacademy is a platform for education that is devoted to providing excellent education.
CM Delhi Arvind Kejriwal commented on the subject and questioned whether urging people to support educated candidates constitutes a crime.
Sangwan was in breach of contract, according to Unacademy co-founder Roman Saini, thus the business had to fire him. On August 19, Karan Sangwan, who recently launched his own YouTube channel, will address information about the controversy.
Sangwan said, since a few days ago, a video has gained widespread attention because of him, and as a result, many of his students who are studying for judicial services examinations are suffering as a result. He also said, along with them he has to also face repercussions.
In the contentious video that Sangwan brought up, he urged students to cast their vote for informed candidates in the following election.
