Painkili social media review: Sajin Gopu, Anaswara Rajan’s rom-com fails to impress audiences

This kind of feedback highlights a divide in audience reactions, with some enjoying the comedy’s lightheartedness while others felt it crossed the line into excessive.

The eagerly awaited Malayalam romantic comedy Painkili, featuring Sajin Gopu and Anaswara Rajan in the lead roles, made its debut today, February 14th. Directed by Sreejith Babu, the film attracted enthusiastic fans to theatres, all hoping for a delightful comedic experience. However, the initial reception has been mixed to negative.

Social media reactions have varied significantly. One user on X (formerly Twitter) shared his thoughts, labelling Painkili as an unproblematic comedy that serves as a “perfect stressbuster for the weekend.” He praised the film for its abundance of “brainless yet hilarious moments” and pointed out that Sajin Gopu’s performance stands out as one of its greatest strengths.

Contrastingly, another audience member expressed disappointment with the film’s over-the-top comedy sequences, particularly criticizing the pre-climax and climax portions, which he felt were major letdowns. While praising Sajin Gopu’s acting skills, he suggested that Painkili might be better suited for an OTT viewing rather than a theatrical experience.

Not all reviews were positive, however. One viewer compared the film to an “overacting competition,” humorously asserting that Sajin Gopu’s character, Ambaan (from Aavesham), stole the show with his exaggerated performance, even during moments meant to be serious. This kind of feedback highlights a divide in audience reactions, with some enjoying the comedy’s lightheartedness while others felt it crossed the line into excessive.

Painkili is a romantic comedy that showcases talents like Lijo Jose Pellissery, Jisma Vimal, and Riyaz Khan, in addition to its leads. The film’s production team includes Fahadh Faasil and Jithu Madhavan, who penned the story. This film marks the directorial debut of Sreejith Babu, with cinematography handled by Arjun Sethu and editing by Kiran Das.

As audiences continue to share their thoughts, it’s clear that Painkili has sparked a lively discussion, reflecting the diverse tastes within the Malayalam film community. Whether it ultimately resonates with viewers remains to be seen, but the mixed reviews certainly make it a topic of interest this Valentine’s Day.

On Valentine’s Day, Sukesh Chandrashekhar, an alleged conman currently incarcerated in Mandoli Jail, sent a heartfelt letter to Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez, accompanied by a lavish surprise: a customized Gulfstream Jet. This extravagant gift aims to demonstrate his love for her amidst his legal troubles.

In his letter, Sukesh addressed Jacqueline as his Valentine and noted the special significance of the day, stating, “This Valentine’s is particularly special because it signifies just one step closer to spending the rest of our Valentine’s Days together.” He professed his deep affection, saying, “I truly love you, Jackie. You are the best Valentine in the world, and I love you like crazy.” He reminisced about their relationship, highlighting that it began on Valentine’s Day—the day they forgave each other and accepted one another for who they are.

Sukesh described the Gulfstream Jet as a personalized gift, featuring Jacqueline’s initials, “JF,” on the exterior and interior. He proudly mentioned that the jet’s registration number corresponds to her birth date and month, stating, “This makes it incredibly personal for you, my love.” He expressed gratitude to Gulfstream Middle East for their assistance in making the gift possible, emphasizing the convenience it would bring to her frequent travels for work.

Moreover, Sukesh included a commitment to transparency, stating he would declare the jet on his tax returns and pay the appropriate gift taxes, assuring her that it is fully legal and not linked to any criminal activities.

Referring to Jacqueline as “bomma,” he called himself the luckiest man in the world to have her as his Valentine.

Sukesh has been behind bars since 2015, facing serious charges related to a massive fraud scheme. His alleged connection to Jacqueline emerged during an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate. While Sukesh claims to be in a relationship with the actress, Jacqueline has denied his assertions, accusing him of deception and intimidation, which left her feeling threatened and disturbed.
