Jamia Millia Islamia University to restart offline classes

Offline classes for the last year’s postgraduate students will begin on March 2, 2022, and for the last year, undergraduate students will commence in mid-March, according to Jamia Millia Islamia.

Offline classes for the last year’s postgraduate students will begin on March 2, 2022, and for the last year, undergraduate students will commence in mid-March, according to Jamia Millia Islamia.

The university management stated in an order that the university will be opened in phases, taking into account the journey time of outstation candidates who need to prepare for their journey to Delhi.

Also, it said, that the hostels will not be opened until COVID-19 rules and guidelines are made and ensured. For students attending physical classes, the university requires a negative RTPCR report as well as a valid ID card.

The girl’s and the boy’s hostels of the university have less number of seats. Also, the hostel buildings are undergoing renovations and ongoing maintenance. Given the COVID-19 guideline, providing residential housing is not viable or recommended until the COVID protocol is in place.

After the renovations are completed, the Provosts of Halls of Residence will personally oversee the renovation and maintenance work and create a new list of students for hostel assignment in each hostel, the order stated.

Meanwhile, on the resumption of physical classes for intermediate years of UG and PG studies, no notification has been published. After the Delhi Disaster Management Authority approved the commencement of offline sessions at educational establishments last week this month, the notification puts an end to days of uncertainty over Jamia’s reopening.
