Thousands of people stood on the roads leading to Rajghat in the hope that the jam would get cleared and they would be allowed move further.
For many kilometers, people kept walking on foot with their families. The public also had to face disorder due to the crowd. The lanes leading to the ghats were jammed from 6 pm till late at night. The situation of mismanagement was at peak, no security personnel were even posted.
Women, girls, children and the elderly were the most affected. People going to Shivala Ghat and Chet Singh Ghat were stuck in the jam for 3 to 4 hours.
